Thanks very much, alng!raisintan:
It's good that they have buses back home after 3+pm activities. As for activities that end at 5pm, I'll have problem then cos I knock off at 6pm.

I suggest you could try to befriend the other SCGS moms. I see many people car pool to send their kids home. While I stay in Jurong West, I have also sent some of my dd's friends to Choa Chu Kang and Jurong East.
There are other alternatives such as train the girl to take public transport, to book a regular taxi, get a relative to pick or ask the girl to wait in school. The last option would mean the girl would feel hungry as the canteen is usually closed by 3-4 plus. -

Hi,mwchua:

My DD wakes up at 5am and the school bus picks her up at 5.20am. Staying at Bedok. For the return leg, she is now the 4th to reach home. Travel time about 30 - 45 mins.
Waking up at 5am is really early
What time does your girl sleep everyday to be able to wake up at 5am? Guess she also takes a nap in the afternoon once back from school?
Mine will need to wake up at 5.30am and I am already wondering why so
early…:(
And I tawt that it was bad enough when eons back, I took the SBS bus from home to SCGS at the unearthly hour of 615am! 520am! Give your DD a hug for me!
But seriously, does it affect her productivity?
Oh dear - why r u doing this? feel so 'sayang' for the little girls - to wake up before 6am each day... Why not get a place nearby the school? Anyway, this is my personal view only no offence. -

Because no good schools near mine place. Anyway moving next year so will be better. -
Hi,
I’m in Clementi area. Contacted a Mr Chua and he mentioned 5.50am pickup. Are u also staying in the west? Can you share your transport arrangement and timings pls? Thank you
It is a different bus operator for Clementi and Jurong West. My dd is in 12-seaters van and the bus only picks up girls in Jurong West area before heading for school via PIE. My girl gets up the bus at around 5.50-5.55 am too but she is not the first one on the bus.
Clementi is nearer to SCGS but I do not know what is the bus size and how the bus route. Most buses are mini vans and they reach school between 6.30 to 7 am. My dd’s bus reaches school at 6.40 am. The buses have to arrive early because they want to avoid traffic jams plus they need to rush off to pick up workers. Between 6.50 am to 7.20 am, there will be a traffic jam from the highway exit to the school.
If you could afford the time, it is better to send your girl to school directly. Go by Ulu Pandan Road –> Farrer Road –> dunearn road. I do not quite know the traffic on those roads in the morning but you would have avoided the traffic at Steven Road exit and along Dunearn Road stretch where the other schools are situated.
Hi! I stay off Dover Road. The school bus comes to my place at around 6.15, but dh wanted to let dd have a few minutes extra sleep, so we fetch her to school. We usually leave the house between 6.50 - 7am and reach school before 7.20. The journey is usually smooth until Farrer Road-Dunearn Road junction, where the wait is around 5 - 10 min. The other bottle neck is the Dunearn Road-Stevens Road junction, where there is a queue of cars waiting to enter SCGS. I prefer the Ulu Pandan –> Napier Road –> Dunearn Road route - its slightly longer but there’s fewer bottlenecks. -
Hi
My girl is going Pri 1 next year but no one had contacted us for transport. May I know anyone staying around Ghim Moh or Mt Sinai area who are also taking school bus? Can you please forward the contact, thanks very much.

Hi Lairedale!
I live nearby - next ot ACJC. My girl’s not on the bus, but I remember the bus operator said that the pickup is at around 5.45 for my area. Check the stack of papers and the school handbook the school passed out on orientation day. The bus operator’s number is there. -
Hi Laura
Thanks for infor, I’ll have to try to contact the bus coordinator again. we are letting our girl taking 1 way back from school. -
Hi Mummies, appreciate for your kind advice as my girl is offered a vacancy in SCGS P4 (2012).
The reason that I needed the transfer is her current school will be posted to a temp holding school by end 2012 for next 1.5 to 2 yrs. As my girl will be taking PSLE by then, I am concerned with the disruption if the school has to move back in Jun prior to the PSLE exams.
In her current school, my girl made it to Top 5 in her cohort of 210. I am thankful that she was given the vacancy in SCGS but all transferred students are placed in mixed abilities classes.
1) Is it true that the mixed abilities classes are taught much slower pace as compared to the best class ? .
2)Earlier, we applied for St Nick in case either one of the schools we applied for was not successful. She was shortlisted as well.
We are in tough decision making which is a better choice for my girl. Wonder if the teachers are dedicated and willing to groom these girls to the fullest. I was told that more than one quarter of P6 cohort this year made it to the IP.
We need to make decision before 28 Dec.
Btw, any of you putting up in Toa Payoh area as I am thinking of car pool. Look forward to hearing from your feedback. Thank you ! -
Hi,
My husband and I wish for our girl to go to SCGS Primary. She’ll be able to register for primary one next year.
I heard that there was an admission test that pre-primary one students had to take to enter SCGS primary. It Is it true? And if so, what is the test on and how did you prepare your kid for it?
Appreciate all the help I could get.
Thanks! -

Hi, there is no admission test if you apply via MOE P1 registration process. Admission tests and interviews are administered for transfer cases.Hi,
