      need help on this following question.

      there are 3 different types of tiles.
      Tile A- 0.54 kg
      Tile B - 0.76kg
      Tile C-0.63kg

      Kim has a stack of 21 different types of tiles which are made of a combination of Tiles A, B and C. 9 of them are Tiles C and the total mass of 21 tiles is 13.69kg. How many tiles A and B are there respectively?

        this is a guess and check question.

        Wt of 9 tiles C = 9 x 0.63 = 5.67kg
        Wt of tiles A & B = 13/69 - 5.67 = 8.02kg
        # of tiles A & B = 21 - 9 = 12

        Guess and check
        6A & 6B = (6x0.54) + (6x0.76) = 7.8kg
        5A & 7B = (5x0.54) + (7x0.76) = 8.02

        5 tile A and 7 tile B

          this question is similar to the money question...and the number of legs question (in P3)... no need to use guess and check also can (want to use also can :D)šŸ˜‰
          Tile A- 0.54 kg
          Tile B - 0.76kg

          ---------------------------
          9 Tile C --> 9x0.63=5.67
          (21-9=)12 Tiles (A & B mix) --> 13.69-5.67=8.02

          assume all 12 tiles are Tile A\t
          --> 12x0.54=6.48\t

          Difference --> 8.02-6.48=1.54

          difference between Tile A & Tile B
          1Tile --> 0.76-0.54=0.22
          1.54 divide 0.22 = 7\t
          \t
          therefore 7\tTile B
          and (12-7=) 5Tile A

          hope it is clear...šŸ˜“ (veterans....pls help double check šŸ˜“ TQ).

                Hi

                adding all will give: 3 (a+b+c+d) = 930 or a+b+c+d= 310
                d = 310-240=70
                a=310-230=80
                b=310-250=60
                c=310-210=100

                cheers.

                    Hi
                    They spent equal amount of money ie
                    1/3 of Yvonne's money = 3/7 of Alyssa's money
                    --> 3/9 of Yvonne's money = 3/7 of Alyssa's money
                    ... draw a model and you should be able to see that 3 units of Yvonne's money = 3 units of Alyssa's money. so, amount of money each has :
                    Yvonee --> 9 units
                    Alyssa --> 7 units
                    Total 16 units --> $ 432, 1 unit --> $ 27
                    Alyssa's money left --> 4 units --> 4 x $ 27 = $ 108

                    cheers.
