        rains:

My kid told me that half her class got thro the first round and some boys in her class cried when they didn't get the letter. I thought it quite sad. I don't know what the parents have been telling them.
That is very sad. I hope that reaction was not the norm in most classes. 18 in dd's class got through round 1, so I can imagine it must be pretty hard for the rest. Dd didn't mention anyone reacting negatively though but then mine is the blur type. She only heard her name and nothing else.

Our kids seem to have similar reactions after the tests. Mine came home, rushed through her lunch and ran to bed with her Harry Potter. Last words to me were \"Don't disturb me for the next few hours.\" I was bursting, dying to know the questions. 😞

          Lemme guess, lemme guess!

Teacher complain to parents. Parents stressed. Begs child! Child unrepentent.

(this really happened to dd's former tutor. Teacher harrassed the mother and son repeatedly. Son consistently produces poor results during GEP tests but you know what, he still got into HC through DSA with only an interview).

probably truly gifted, but very unmotivated?

on the contrary, he was not trained. we were not even aware of GEP until he told us about the test!

we have no doubt about his giftedness. since young, we received very positive comments by his caregivers in this area, in addition to complaints about him not paying attention in class, doing his own things…behavioural problems associated with ADHD or autism.

His main problem now is that he doesn’t like to write, which is affecting everything in GEP. Even in science, you need to substantiate the answers. So all those GEP assignment such as porfolio, SS is a chore to him.

And he’s not careful…losing easy marks here and there in maths and science. SIGH

or I would say the current ge program is not suitable for him ... 😎

well, don't think they can customise a programme to fit everyone.

Think most GEP will enjoy maths and science coz they shd be able to pick up the higher concepts easily, unless they got thru by 'training'.

My boy, well, probably a combination of factors. Unmotivated, immatured (not analytical), not expressive in writing which makes the rest of the GEP deliverables such as porfolio, SS bery tedious.

But nebbermind...1 more yr to go!!! :celebrate:
