SAHM_TAN:
lol it is a private school... so 3 terms in a year and each term is 4095 pounds which is around SGD26k a year per child.... so before I embark on that, need to save up first
:rotflmao: must have aim mah :rotflmao:
oooooooo, so in that case, the fees will not be as ex, if you have citizenship over there?
The kakis must meet as least once before you fly far far away
here private , you can depend on government for various schemes... different in other countries (so singaporeans should seriously stop complaining :rotflmao: ) -

:rotflmao: so private in UK is really meant for the atas coz their average income is only SGD36k annually (this is what BF told me) and most likely single income so they will opt for state schools or church of england schools state schools (this is from my SG fren in UK). She was telling me it is 130 dollars per month for P1 ... and it is Church of England State School (not private)... :faint:

Here at least you aim for the good schools, you know you have chance of appealing for edusave to help with cost or have edusave for CCA...... -

did some reading around.. Just eating Tang Yuan as The DONG ZHI is based on the solar term of the solar calendar, which is in this case, the 22nd solar term known also as dong zhi. It coincides with December 22 of the Gregorian calendar. Dong Zhi is the thanksgiving of the Chinese calendar. \"Dong Zhi\" literally means \"arrival of winter\". Coinciding with the winter solstice, it is an occasion for the family to get together to celebrate the good year they have had. Tang Yuan is cooked and eaten to symbolise unity and harmony within the family. Dong Zhi occurs 6 weeks before Chinese New Year and would normally fall between 21st Dec and 23rd Dec.
Ang Moh Version is
This week, the sun will reach that point where it will appear to shine farthest to the south of the equator, marking the moment of the winter solstice — the shortest day of 2011 in the Northern Hemisphere.
The winter solstice occurs Thursday at 12:30 a.m. EST (0530 GMT), which corresponds to 9:30 p.m. PST on Wednesday for observers further west. At the time, the sun will be passing over the over the Tropic of Capricorn.
This is the longest night of the year, meaning that despite the cold winter, the days get progressively longer after the winter solstice until the summer solstice in 2012.
The winter solstice is celebrated by many people around the world as the beginning of the return of the sun, and darkness turning into light. The Talmud recognizes the winter solstice as \"Tekufat Tevet.\" In China, the \"Dongzhi\" Festival is celebrated on the Winter Solstice by families getting together and eating special festive food.
Until the 16th century, the winter months were a time of famine in northern Europe. Most cattle were slaughtered so that they wouldn't have to be fed during the winter, making the solstice a time when fresh meat was plentiful. Most celebrations of the winter solstice in Europe involved merriment and feasting. In pre-Christian Scandinavia, the Feast of Juul, or Yule, lasted for 12 days celebrating the rebirth of the sun god and giving rise to the custom of burning a Yule log.
In ancient Rome, the winter solstice was celebrated at the Feast of Saturnalia, to honor Saturn, the god of agricultural bounty. Lasting about a week, Saturnalia was characterized by feasting, debauchery and gift-giving. With Emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity, many of these customs were later absorbed into Christmas celebrations.
One of the most famous celebrations of the winter solstice in the world today takes place in the ancient ruins of Stonehenge, England. Thousands of druids and pagans gather there to chant, dance and sing while waiting to see the spectacular sunrise. -
