Frankly...if they don't want to be in that posted school..by all mean move out...this create a chance for those that want and really apprciate the chance to get it.....so it really no right or wrong..is all about preception....P.S: I'm not one of the parent that wanted to transfer out from DSA...just a comment...

These are NOT \"posted\" to the school. They were given a choice to exercise their option of whether to accept the CO or not. That is the difference. This thread is not talking about getting out of the school the child was posted to via S1

I do understand what you are trying to put across...Just that, at the end of the day, if both the parent and the child don't apprciate staying with the DSA school..moving out do create a chance for someone that want to get in badly...that's why I said, no right or wrong...is just how you look at it...

It is morally wrong not to honour the DSA offered. If u don’t apprecaite it, why accept it at the first place???

Most of the time is the parents. At the end of the day, what msg are we sending to our children? Is ok to break agreements made for our own convenience or advantage?

Parents should realise that dsa is not a backup plan. If we think there is a possibility that we want another sch, should the results allow, then don’t accept the CO. give others who want that co badly.

it is a similar situation as scholarship bond breakers.

In anyway, I suppose there is a rule that MOE lay out that no transfer out for those students who accepted DSA.

But it is not fair for another DSA student in a similar position and chose to follow the rules and stay put in his DSA sch.

Why have DSA in the first place if you are not going to honour your CO? Parents have a choice whether to accept the CO or not. The act of securing a place as a back up plan \"just in case the child doesn't do well\" and then abandoning the CO at the earliest opportunity is not desirable.
Most parents want to honour CO and also won't accept the DSA CO from 2nd choice school if they are the ones making the decision. However if your DS/DD come back and tell you they don't feel good about the PSLE or everyone says easy and your kid says difficult, won't the parent n kid be scared and want to exercise the option first. If don't do well in PSLE - how? Then when PSLE result come out, alamak - happy and sad cos kid score very high, above 1st choice school COP. Then how? Seek transfer. Put yourself in their shoes and in 100% honesty, you think you won't do the same? All parents want the best for their kids. There's always two sides to the coin, there's no right or wrong. Each has their own reasons and stand.

But the silence from the DSA appeal cases indicate that this round, MOE seems to be serious in no transfer.

Most parents and students appreciate each CO. They also discuss like crazy and deliberate before making that decision to accept a CO that is 2nd choice. 🙏 😓 :nailbite:

In 100% honesty, i would not go back on a CO should my kid score higher because it goes against my conviction that one should always honour his words / agreement. That's why i believe scholarship holders should always fulfill their bond before they pursue their own further interest.

For analysis, most of these who want to reverse their CO already have a CO from a reputable IP school, not that it is some kooching-kurak sch. Can my kid not get a equally good education from this DSA school? Are there invisible tiers that we create even among IP schools? Is there therefore any surprise some of our kids are behaving like elitist?

Sorry to say, but ultimately it boils down to face and self.

Maybe they have decided to give priority to appeal cases with no co first .. That is why the appeal case of those with co result not out yet ..

I applaud your strong conviction. Every parent has their own reason or stand when making decisions. So no parent is totally right or wrong. Face and self do not seem to be the main considerations for the parents I know whose kids managed to DSA appealed successfully in past years. Very simple reason actually- hope the kid get into his dream school, a very simple dream.
