I went for the English and Physics lesson today . It was rather fun and indeed applied learning . I learnt the angle of deviation and refraction during the Physics lesson through experiments . During the English lessons , we were asked to arrange the sequence of the procedures and also asked to create a ringtone by following a set of procedures guided by the teacher and written by us and we were allowed to keep the procedure of creating a ringtone . I feel it would be easy to adapt to the environment there if you are a hands-on person . I heard some insider's news from the teacher too . He told us that the new campus would have 10 laboratories and they are going to build a JC just for us . At the end of the 4 years , half of the cohort would go to polytechnics while the other half would stay . After going for the lessons , I would definitely choose SST .

Anyone can advise on how are the students placed in the classes in secondary one, is it by streaming(according to abilities)? How are the students tested for exams in secondary one?

Hi Bbee, and others who are awaiting SST post PSLE results -


I think chances are 0 indeed. I called today. I was told there was one withdrawal - but there were valid reasons for the withdrawal (did not ask what the reasons were) hence the withdrawal was granted. They informed that MOE has informed that they are not to release children who have accepted the CO. So there was one lucky child who got his/her wish.

So only chance is if there are other ‘valid’ reasons withdrawals. Which I think is very unlikely.

Have you guys bought books and uniform for your assigned schools already? I am thinking of doing it today - so that I can get closure and do not hang on to a hope any more.

If you have not received the email, I do wish that the lucky child is your boy. I can understand how much they want to get into SST and will be happy for whoever the lucky child is (and the mummy/daddy)

Hi Bbee - I am sorry that you got a NO - but in a way it is good. Now you can fully commit to his posted school. We have not received the firm no - but they are also unwilling to share what number on the waitlist my son is (understandable).

Well the single vacancy did not go to us - so we were not the lucky parents.

He is posted to VS. I think it’s a great school as well. And being govt school I calculated we save $12,480 over 4 yrs. :-).
