It is OK for us to accept the principal’s speech with chinese and english. What to do, cannot go to top mountain, now have to scale a slightly lower peak mountain. Why is COP for Dunman High is low this year? Is the school standard dropping? didn’t have the chance to talk to any staff because rushing to rgs and njc to submit the appeal forms.

DHS seems to be somewhat impacted by the new VS-Cedar-VJC IP given (a) the proximity - VS and VJC are both in the east, (b) VJC is a proven top tier JC and (c) the cultures are different (those more potato would prefer VS-Cedar). 90 each in VS and Cedar IPs so total ard 180 new intake is probably enough to swing min a mark away from DHS COP. But this was expected. Going forward, when VS and Cedar IPs increase their intakes plus prove themselves in new IP, would expect further lowering of COP of DHS. To defend, DHS would have to showcase more stellar A levels results, hopefully not via recruitment of more kids from the Dragon Country.

Actually, the MOE is acting as a referee, I don’t think MOE will allow any school to gain extra advantage by recruiting more "foreign talent" students to boost the school result. For all we know, VJC, NJC top students list are also fill with many PRC and Vietnamese scholars.

That’s what I have suspected because of Cedar and VS IP. President Scholar after 6 years only emerged from RJC and Hwa Chong. NJC, VJC, and DHS never heard of. HCI and DHS recruit mostly dragon country students. Look at table tennis and basketball CCA players, mostly are from that country.

Cedar IP, my DD is qualified. She doesn’t want to enter into that school mostly her primary sch classmates will be there. Myself also think to scale mountain that far from NorthEast area.

Not really, friendship. RI has alot of Dragon Country scholars too. Look at the gold medalists list for all the science and maths olympiads and you will know.

Moreover, if foreign scholars wanted to join the school, credit should be given to the schools. Top talents wouldn’t opt for the school if not because the schools have a perceived high standard.

Lastly, DHS did produce a president scholar from their first A level batch.

Ya, I think the COP will be even lower next yr when the other IP schools join in. RV will also be affected.

I am not sure my observation is correct or not. It seems that the popularity of SAP schools have been dropping over the years. COP of a few SAP schools have dropped so low that there is no difference with some ordinary secondary schools. Top SAP schools are not affected not because they are SAP schools but more because they have already built a strong brand names.

Maybe the younger generation becoming more potato?

A friend's DD got into Chung Cheng High and was told that not only Higher Chinese is compulsory, even Literature must be taken in Chinese! :yikes:

I have a few frens’ kids refused to choose sap sch, citing higher Chinese standard as deterrant. In such cases, they have lesser choice, as quite a handful of sap schs fall under the Band 1/2 categories, and may be nearer to home too.
