What to expect on Day-1 of school? Can parents go along (pay fees etc)? Can we just wear normal white shoes/socks on first day till we get the school-issued items?

Yes, I have the same question also. During the first week of school for year 1, the students are having their \"Discovery Camp\". Should the students ware normal or old school shoe/socks. Will the new white Nikx shoe/socks and new uniform come back with mud?

Got ready 6 passport size photos, in sch uni and tie, as stated in the letter in the registration pack. Din know reg pack cost $30!

Thanks for sharing. This is interesting. Given IP has 180 students and that they are students who scored 255 and above for PSLE, I am very surprised that only 1 qualified for accelerated Science :yikes: Is it because IP and Express have different Science and Math papers with IP papers being more difficult and harder to score 80 and above :? ? If they are having different papers and IP papers are tougher, shouldn't a lower criteria be applied for IP eg 75% :? Please enlighten.

Haha, yes, snow crystal. There are 144 IP students in secondary 2 this yr. To join the ACS (Accelerated class of Science), students must opt to do triple science and double maths in Secondary 3. I am quite sure there are Sec 2 IP students who meet the criteria but did not take the selection tests for the ACS because they have chosen a different subject combination.

Students from IP and express take different papers for almost all subjects. I have not seen express exam papers so I am not able to compare. A lower cut-off criteria to be used for IP did cross my mind, however, i didnt probe further.

The physics dean did share candidly that more express students are selected because many of them worked hard in order to be selected for IP in sec 3.

Hi wormy,
U dun have to go to the school. Class allocation can be found on the sch website - a link to an excel file. 1.1 - 1.9 (express classes), 1.10- 1.16 (IP classes) for 2012.

The link should be up before 30th dec.

It should be quite safe to wear the new shoes n socks for the discovery camp. The only possible activity which may get your son a little dirty is the T-shirt painting (not too sure if there's gonna be done in 2012). For physical activities like CCA trials and CIP, they will be in PE attire.

Each class will be split into 2 groups. Each group \"mentored\" by 4 Peer Student Leaders (PSL), who will be in Sec 3 next yr.
