Growing Up Gifted - Kindergarten
-
Hihi.....
Any mummies or daddies here enrolled their kiddos into GUG kindergarten? Particularly the Mountbatten branch? Or heard of any positive/negative feedbacks about them? I did a search but most reviews I've found are for their enrichment classes & not the kindergarten. I am thinking of putting my dd in for next year.
I am wondering how good are they, especially helping the kids in preparation for P1 & of course the quality of the teachers?
Many thanks in advance!

Bumping up...anyone?

I highly recommend GUG's kindergarten. My 2 kids REALLY benefited, elder one already graduated from their K2. Agree with other parents that their students are very well prepared for P1, some say too well-prepared haha
Heard the school's latest report is 1 out of 4 students got into GEP since they started operations. Impressive considering every yr only 500 out of 10,000 P3 kids get into GEP! I think they post GUG kindy parents' testimonials on their website so maybe you can check that out.. -
Wow...finally someone replied after almost a month of waiting!
I am still on the fence about this school cos there was no worksheets or any teaching materials available to show me, so I have no sense of their standards at all. Plus when I went down to visit, the vice P was like just going through the motion of explaining the basics, timing & fees etc, then left hurriedly. I get to meet no teachers at all too. So my initial impression of them was kinda cold...& very commercialised??
tamtam, where did you saw the report on the GEP students?

It was the MD's speech during the K2 graduation event last month. Oh, sorry to hear the VP left a cold impression.. actually, my own experience all these years has been that they're all very warm and helpful, from teachers to principal and directors. Maybe you can schedule to meet the principal Vidier instead and she can show you some samples? Anyway, just my 2 cents worth: My colleagues and I did quite a lot of research going around other reputable kindergartens and compared notes with friends before signing up our kids at GUG, haha
So far we def feel we made the right decision and very impressed with the school's quality and standard (including their worksheets and workbooks). Hope this helps

I am skeptical. It hard to see a link between GEP and kindergarten education. I have 3 kids, two of them already in primary school. My P6 is GEP but PSLE results \"so so\".
Getting prepared for P1 is not a difficult task and I would say average childcare and kindergarten will be able to achieve that easily. (e.g. Cambridge). The reason is simple, P1 work is easy. For the first term of P1, children only learn 1 to 10. However, my two kids starts to face challenges as they progress higher up as learning in Singapore school syllabus is accelerated exponentially every year.
The only link I can see between GUG and GEP is the letter G :rotflmao: -
Hahaha! Work4astar, did your kid graduate from GUG too?
Aside from GEP, the MD also said that over the past years, more than 94% of their students rank in the top 10 of their P1 class.
Well personally, GEP or not, I think just having seen my 2 kids improve so much during their time in GUG’s kindergarten have made me very thankful to the school. Especially in their reading, writing, maths, and self-confidence. I areally like their curriculum. My kids have learned a lot about inspiring leaders, natural calamities, environmental issues, anger management, science experiments, and even topics like genetics and sex education!! So I think aside from just academic skills, the general knowledge that the school has imparted to my kids have definitely given them a love for learning and very good foundation beyond P1. -
Hi mummies,
How is GUG’s programme for infants? Like for one yr old? Worth attending? -
Hi, anyone tried GUG’s parent toddler class thats held once a week? Would appreciate any comments. thank you

My 2 younger kids attend GUG since 13 mths and 10 mths old. Both enjoy the programme tremendously and have benefit a lot. My youngest took a few weeks to adjust but now settled down very nicely and very active to participate
