Sorry for asking so much but is the class list out yet? Or will they only post during this weekend? Thanks! -
Wait, Robotics is a core cca? and what is ICT? Oh and what about house practices? will they clash or something?

Thank you a child and Choco05 for sharing your experience on the CCAs. You have been very helpful.

thank you v much for the information choco05 :)
I thought there's a new handphone rule rolled out this year? Basically it's a values-based system. You're allowed to use your phone anywhere in school as long as it's not during class or CCA. For example during recess and lunch periods you can use it in school.
Hi,Choco05:
hi, i'd like to seek clarification/advice from current RGS girls on this thread (choco05, bananamonster, a child etc)
Can DD bring her mobile phone to school. Quite sure she can't use it during schoolhours of course. But if I need her top give me a ring when she reaches school on the 1st day (she is taking public bus herself), can she call me in the school compound before school starts or she has to call me before she passes through the school gate ?
After official school hours, can she call me in the school or is that prohibited ?
Must she seek approval to take a mobile phone to school (like most primary schools where you need written approval from school admin office?)
thanks !
Of course she can bring her handphone. The proper use of handphones...i know roughly but can get banana to recite it.
It's something like before 7.20am when the bell rings, you can use handphones anywhere in school. After that, you can only use it in the foyer and the canteen. But after 5.30pm, you can use it anywhere in the school too.
No need for approval of handphones. -

Robotics can be taken both as a Core and Merit. Core is competitive and has 70% minimum attendance. Merit's minimum attendance is 35%.
ICT is a computer skills class which you can choose to take in any of the terms on any day, for ten sessions e.g. I did mine Term 1 Wed. You can also choose to take it during the March or September holidays daily and intensively, or a week of intensive during June/December hols. You need to take 30 hours of it every year. I would advise to take either during Term 1 or during the hols, because Terms 2-4 are project and SA-intensive, while Term 1 is relatively more relaxed. Also try to do it as soon as possible because these skills may come in useful for school work.
House practices are on Wed. No, they won't clash. Mon, Tues and Thurs are CCA days. Wed is for house practice/other activities such as Research Studies (Year 2)/MEP/SAP (MEP/SAP do not clash with the other activities as the timings are be arranged differently). Fri is for Third Lang. ICT can be taken in any term, on any weekday, and also during the holidays. You're supposed to schedule it during a time when you're free.
Also in Term 3, if you haven't taken Conversational Malay in primary school, you must take the 10 sessions course. You can choose to do it on any weekday you're free. If you can't find time in your schedule there're make up classes in Term 4 after EYAs. -

Do you by any chance know the trials for robotics?

Is 101 the DSA-academic class for the mainstream classes? Didn't know that. I thought the DSA-Academic students were in the GEP classes. At least in my dd's year they were, for the Math DSA students anyway.
This is the information from my year, and may not be accurate for next year. 101-108 are non-SBGE, 109-113 are SBGE. Pupils who were from GEP or had high t-scores (for my year that means 269 and above) are in SBGE classes. For non-SBGE - 101 is academic-DSA class. Then there are also classes for the sports DSAs, basically all the DSAs from each area is in the same class. There's also MEP/SAP class. And then for the SBGE classes, 113 is the MEP/SAP class. Other than arranging in this way, I don't know what else they take into consideration.
