Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)

Anyone having third language starting 10 jan? My DS French class starts that day but realized that it clashes with Raffles Trail - the CCA βshowβ n the Investiture Ceremony also on that night. Is it compulsory to attend e Raffles Trail? Or should I change the first french lesson for him?? Any advice?

Hi paddy,
It affected German class also. I have emailed to Mr Lim to see if he will request Moelc to change the date instead of the boys asking for replacement date individually. He replied saying he will check and get back to me. I will update here once I receive his reply. I think if mr Lim able to change the date for us, the boys should be informed duly. -
Thanks vlim ... U r such a dear

Fairy:
verykiasu2010,
What Fairy said is true is the current practice. For non-IP sch, students who take HCL must take 'o'level CL at sec 3. I know for HCI, only students who are weeker in HCL are advised to attempt CL 'o' level at sec 3. Not sure if RI has such arrangement.Zann:

I am quite sure my DS will be taking the O level MT at end of sec 3, as a requirement for the HMT student, and will be doing the O level HMT at end of sec 4
And verykiasu2010, do you mean there is going to be a change for your ds batch in RI?
My son is yr 3 going yr 4 in 2012 at RI. He did not take any O level MT this year. All the time, my understanding is that those taking HMT need only attempt O level HMT in Yr 4.
If you are so sure your ds will be taking MT O level at sec 3, then maybe the new practice is effective your ds' batch?[/quote]may be my DS more kiasu than me. will need to check out with the school when term starts -

the pool is between Gate 2 and Gate 3, just behind the perimeter wall along main road, diagonally in front of the high rise hostel block
RI has swimming pool? I walked the whole school compound today but didnt see it.
Btw, went to bookshop today to buy PE shorts (reserved 2x L size) but bookshop staff said no stock. Very disappointed. Wasted my trip there!
Anyway, walked to MOELC to hand in the form and buy books. Quite a long walk from RI to MOELC. Is there any bus from RI to MOELC? -
My cousin is in RI and my grandma always says how he is so stressed up in RI and only comes back home at 7pm.
I suppose if your child cannot hold much stress, itβs gonna be a problem. -

some are stressed by CCA while some are stressed by academic work
and some are stressed because their classmates are more vocal and interactive
and some are cool to all the activities and work -
The stress will toughen them up, and school will be the best place to do it before they come out to the unforgiving world.
