i ask joanne to inform me once the new centre is ready so that i can have a look and talk to joanne as well. U think i should go to the NUS centre or wait till the new centre is ready than meet her? I'll update u once i go to the briefing tomorrow

-
lzxuan:
Waseh, you let your daughter choose ar? I not even tell my daughter, depends on my pocket decision. However, for your case I would stick to LV since already last year, wont be affected by the revised fee. For me I have another 2 kids.
Hi lzxuan!
I want to decide, but my husband told my daughter to decide, so, cannot over-rule him leh.
So, now, what I will do is to attend the briefing session on Friday, and see if the curriculum offered by LSH is worth us \"fighting\" for it. If so, I, for sure, will try to convince my daughter to go for LSH.
Yes, it's true for our case that we only have one more year to go. So, our consideration will be different from yours. -

Hi Fion!
Actually, visiting the new centre will allow you to see the \"hard\" side of the centre, e.g. the environment, the size of the centre, the classrooms, etc. You will still not be able to see the \"soft\" side of the centre, e.g. the teachers, how they conduct classes, how they handle children, etc. Hence, my suggestion is fo ryou to visit the Kent Vale centre and see how the teachers/staff conduct themselves. Just tell Joanne direct that this is the objective of your visit. If the centre is good, they will not mind such visits from parents.
By the way, if you visit the centre, please go in the morning. That's when most of the activities are carried out. -
hi qms
Maybe i'll call joanne to make appointment for next monday to view the NUS centre. Mean time i'm still waiting for joanna to call me to view the new centre.
Does LV prepare the kids well for pri 1? -
morning qms,
last night my husband discuss with me , he said since we more or less decide on LV @ SP2 . There's don need to attend the briefing for LSH this evening. But i insist to go
because i wanna see how sincere they are to take over the school and wat kind of curriclum they offer. -
Hi Fion!
Fion Loh:
Generally, yes, with the exception of Maths, in my opinion. That is why my husband and I are now teaching our son Maths. We do not have concerns in other areas.Does LV prepare the kids well for pri 1?
However, if you are aiming for very good and popular primary schools (e.g. Nan Hua, etc.), the curriculum offered by LV may not be good enough. LV only provides the minimum, in my view.Fion Loh:
Yes, I agree with you. :celebrate:last night my husband discuss with me , he said since we more or less decide on LV @ SP2 . There's don need to attend the briefing for LSH this evening. But i insist to go

Not that we are KS, but it is always good to keep our options open. Go for the briefing this evening, and see how the representatives present themselves. Find out their philosophies, curriculum, etc. In fact, find out as much information as possible. Raise as many questions as possible. Only then can you find out more about the organisation.
What you can do is attend the briefing this evening, and update us tomorrow. Lzxuan and myself, at least, will be able to comment on the curriculum offered by LSH vis-a-vis LV. You can make your decision then.
Before you make the decision, please bring your son along for your centre visits, too. Your son must also be comfortable with the place. Even though he is still too young to know anything, you will be able to gauge which place he likes more. -
Hi Fion!
Last night, my husband and I looked at the map of SP2, and realised that it might not be as convenient as Kent Vale from my husbandβs office (which is located at the other end of NUS). We are half-hearted about sending our girl to LV.
Having said that, we will still need to reccee the area before we make any decision. -
hi qms,
Thats why i told him is better to view both school than we can compare the different. As for location wise maybe SP2 will be nearer to my place but Kent value also not that far away. As for the actual location for SP2 Ms joanna also haven inform me⦠-
qms:
qms, if your husband is working near to NUH, you can always get to SP2 from South Bouna Vista Road -> PGP. I believe the distance should be slightly different only.Hi Fion!

For LSH, I wonder how long the teachers will get know of all the kids? How is the ratio of senior teachers vs newly employed teachers since they are still recruiting. How the kids and adapt to the curiculum? By the time the kids adapt to it, it is time for graduation ceremony. Hee.. -
Fion Loh:
But the fee is $100 different for you.. That is quite a lot for me..hi qms,
