      temjin68:
Managed to get the person in charge. She mentioned that all applications have been replied via email. Anyone received good news through email?

they didnt help you to retrieve your application to check? could it be email error? strange...
the other time i called Mrs Ong, she asked for my details and she checked through, that's when I sensed that my chance was slim when she said she will let me know end of the year.

Tao Nan did not reject PV applicants by distance.

But they do make it clear to the applicants on past year’s registration statistics and which distance range the balloting was conducted, before the balloting for PV slots was conducted.

seems like there is an unspoken, undeclared, hidden preference for < 1 km rule.

          going forward -
it is getting more & more competitive for a P1 place.
perhaps is safer for parents to rent a place < 1km first - before start to apply for PV, in order to increase the chance of being selected for PV... unless the skill you offer to the school is highly specialized, that even if stay > 2km, the school still willing to consider take you in.

because on actual P1 registration day, for very hot, popular desirable schools - those > 2km may not even be given a chance to ballot at all even though you had clocked the required number of PV hours, once demand exceed available vacancies and the hot school is many times over-subscribed.

you may call up MOE Customer Service information directly at telephone: 6872220 - to check if your residential house or rental house postal district code is within ' < 1 km ' radar, from popular school(s) / backup school(s). On the spot immediately, the duty officer can check and give you the answer right away.

The successful ones should be contacted by phone for interview, rejected ones are those received email later on the very last day of 2011 😞

Can I check for PV, do schools that limit their number of PV, give priority to parents staying closer? ie if they need 200 PV and 300 apply, they let those stay within 1km have priority, then those within 2km before accepting any >2km? or does it depend on individual schools?

              tq

So far there is no spoken rule about the criteria of pv shortlisting. Even within 1km doesnt mean will be shortlisted especially if the application is far more than what they need.

If based on stats last 2 years, you likely see that they will not need more than 30 or 40 pv and heard their applications always many times over subscribed.

My best guess is that it is based on individual schools. πŸ˜„

How long do we have to stay in a property in order to qualify for the <1km category?
