I agree with you, 24hr mum and hquek, but I thought to initially give her a stipend for phone card while salary reduction is still ongoing. Cos she only gets abt 50 a month for next 6 months… When she gets her full salary, she has to pay for her own calls.
Is that advisable? Others have been telling me not to bother, esp since she is ex- SG… Not fresh maid -
Hi,
Mine is from PH… Any idea where to get the calling card and where to top up? -

I suppose so.. She came n bought a SIM with some SGD that she changed at home.. I suppose if I am happy with her, will just give her ad hoc monetary rewards so it does not become an 'expectation'
Thanks mummies for your input

hi moom,
Better not make it a stipend. but on months you feel she has exceeded expectations, you can certainly top up her salary and remind her this is a bonus and it’s only if her work is done well and if your finances can afford etc. perhaps that can be a good motivating factor - although on the other hand she may be demotivated if in other months her performance is alright but you don’t give her. -
at the end of two yrs prob they only rem how much their salary bonus offday, not those ad hoc freebies. trust me

My hubby tops up my maid’s prepaid card every 2 months. $10 for 2 months. If she doesn’t perform, he takes the phone and prepard card back (both provided by my hubby).
She doesn’t have a single cent with her. All her money is kept in the bank. I pay for all her purchases, then deduct from salary later on. Hubby explained to her that it is to protect her. She’s not suppose to have any money with her. -
i used to do ur way- pay first deduct later but its a hassle to rec the amt. get receipt n calculate. on her las mth i jus gv her eg $50 cash adv ea time she wan buy thgs n then i make her sign only the amt of cash adv taken n offset frm pay
