The CCAO was informative and DD really enjoyed herself 'shopping' for CCAs. The seniors did a great job promoting their respective CCAs. Thanks!
Haha did your dds get the CCA stickers stuck on them by enthusiastic seniors in the typical Rafflesian fashion?
Just finished dinner and shower after coming back from CCAO. So tiring~ but we hope all year 1s and parents enjoyed it and found it useful:)Choco05:
Hello KSPians!
I just wanted to say that Orientation Day One has been wonderful, nobody got hurt as far as I know, and 112 is a lovely class
If any of you are reading this, banana is very proud of you!
Thank you parents, I hope you enjoyed CCAO! -

I'm not sure about Science and Environ, but I'm taking Math Soc as a corehi DD went \"shopping\" for CCA yesterday and was keen on clubs like Science and Environ Club. She told me that it is a core CCA (she asked the seniors and said thet the principal said that some clubs are core CCA).
can RGS seniors like Choco05 etc confirm this ?
thank you
!

I think the reason why DSA sports girls need to start training so early is because of the inter-school season which is typically early in the year during the 2nd term. They start taking part in the sports competitions since Year 1, while the newcomers to the CCA will have a year to train and build skills before starting to compete in Year 2.friendship:
Seems like students who entered via DSA must really committed to their promise. The 3 DSA squash girls in my dd class. Today they have to start practising squash already. The three girls told my dd that they didn't go for any interview at all during DSA. I will ask dd whether those are foreign breed or local breed.
Depends on the Inter sch Competition Schedule ....
Some Sports Starts their round of competition from Jan onwards ....
So the Early start to Practice is essential, esp if the Gals R field to rep the sch this year. And Also for those who compete in Team, they need to train and coordinate with fellow team mates ....
The schedules for training for Most sch, if not Mistaken, starts in Dec last year for the Snrs ....

yes i think the school based gifted classes are 111 (or 110?) to 113 and some the non-gifted PSLE high scorers are also allocated to these classes.
GEP classes are 109 to 113.
Yes, Looks Like there is a sort of Pattern.OrangeJuice:

DD has a classmate who successfully appealed to RGS and now in 101 too. Also, DD has another classmate who DSA thru Maths is posted to 108.
FYI in case mommies are curious whether is there a pattern on how girls are posted
Notice the Larger Numbered Classes R of Smaller Class size? About 32 ....
Those Could be from the Pri GEP Class

Others Lowered Numbered classes have far more students - about 36 to 37 per class.
I Noticed tt the gals for 2 of the sports dsa tt I know is posted to 2 diff classes, with gals of the same sports tog in each class.

Hi all, fyi, this year RGS accepted many appeals. I have a friend who scored 257 and appealed successfully into RGS. Also, her school results are also so-so only.

Er, about the orientation... It was ok I guess... The student leaders and like all the seniors in general were pretty nice :D... The icebreakers were quite fun and our form teacher is quite nice too
(but donno about the other teachers leh :P)... But yeah agree with some of the other ppl, the talks were very long and some of my classmate's legs did really become numb
(but not me cos I was fidgeting all over the place haha). Like during the first talk (or speech, idk?), the one about Shakespeare and literature and compasses and parachutes and... Oh yeah, stewardship too, haha... ;D but yeah generally the orientation has been nice (so far anyway, donno about tomorrow cos there'll be lots of talks :P). But I have to say, the queues are super long... Even the sandwich vending machine had a queue of like 8+ people (year ones only!!!)... And the Japanese food stall also had a long queue...
and yeah the toilets also had a long queue haha... So during recess I just use the toilet that's across the NE Norris hall at the other end cos during recess the canteen toilet is always super full
(and the j block toilet is soo full too :P). Oh shoot I shouldn't have posted that. Now maybe more people might go to that toilet too and then I will STILL have to queue even there haha

Does anyone know if SBGE lasts through all 4 years?

Only for Y1 and Y2 I think, after that gals are grouped according to subject combination or something. And yeah the GE class people basically learn about the same stuff as the other students, just that the GE classes generally have only ex-GEPpers and high scoring mainstreamers, I guess. Oh, one more difference is that the GE classes have less students than the other classes (like 32-33 while other classes have like 36-37 or something). -
The cafeteria food at RGS is really quite niceβ¦ Especially the tuna puff which I totally really really likeβ¦ When I went to buy it wasnβt really crowded but that was after school (like 3+ idk) and not during lunch time/recess so I dunnoβ¦

You sure did your research! haha it's true first few days toilets are like packed because like the year 1s they always don't know what to do so they just go toilet. Ok maybe not everyone but at least my friends and i always wander here and there and somehow end up at the toilets last time:Pchatterbox321:

Anyway dear year 1s please start looking for the class trays! You know the GO has 2 entrances right? The class trays is at the one where you walk past the walkway(the little cafe area for visitors?)and then stop right at the back entrance of the GO? Because your angel letters will start coming out soon(our class already finished mortal allocation, that means enthu ppl will be writing starting tmr, like me, and i alr wrote letters to some of you you know! so don't leave the letter there!)And class tray is an effective way of communication!
