No need. New pay scale affects President Tony Tan from his date of appointment.

Yes, he gets to keep his pension as well as he served 2 terms (ie total 12 yrs) which is more than 8 yrs.

No need. New pay scale affects President Tony Tan from his date of appointment.

The new salary will take effect from 21.5.11 (if I remember correctly) and our respectable former president had indicated that he will subject himself to the new salary scale. Therefore, I believe he will return the 'excess' sum for the period between 21.5.11 and 1.9.11, even though he is not obliged to.

Since PM Lee has accepted the recommendations, I would assume that current serving ministers will not have their pensions. Pensions will apply to those who have stepped down & served more than 8 yrs.

So Nathan exit at right time, got high salary and got to keep his pension......

Are u sure Nathan will be asked to \"return\" excess for the 3 months or so??? That will amount to $500k :yikes:

I think they do cos they are existing ministers. My guess is they set a date e.g. those new ones who came onboard in May'11 are not entitled to.
