Hi all, fyi, this year RGS accepted many appeals. I have a friend who scored 257 and appealed successfully into RGS. Also, her school results are also so-so only.
yes, kinda of surprise when i heard some pupils ard this range being accepted ........
juz as one forummer had mentioned it,
seems like RGS is keeping more slots for appeal cases as not to \"disturb\" the COP of S1 posting..... (juz my guess) -
Augmum:
I think more due to those slots reserved for DSA appeals have to be released. According to one forummer, there were 46 successful S1 appeal cases which is many times more than previous years. Previous years S1 appeal successful cases can count with fingers.chatterbox321:

So becos of the DSA Appeal saga, the seats originally reserved for the DSA transferees have to be released and thus the lower COP accepted.
Such a scenario will never repeat again in future years cos no more DSA Appeals. I guess RI and RGS have to come up with comprehensive WL lists like HCI does - WL List 1 and 2 in future DSAs. So we may expect more WLs for the Raffles Family.
The successful 257 S1 Appeals this year are really lucky :please: .... This is an anomaly situation and they had replaced some very very high scorers who had wanted to transfer via DSA Appeal but are not allowed to
The schools won't be allowed to hold so many seats for the purpose of artificially jacking up COP - MOE is watching... :nunchuk: it's just due to the DSA Appeal mess this year - that's my opinion.

You sure did your research! haha it's true first few days toilets are like packed because like the year 1s they always don't know what to do so they just go toilet. Ok maybe not everyone but at least my friends and i always wander here and there and somehow end up at the toilets last time:PTheHamsterLover:
Does anyone know if SBGE lasts through all 4 years?
Only for Y1 and Y2 I think, after that gals are grouped according to subject combination or something. And yeah the GE class people basically learn about the same stuff as the other students, just that the GE classes generally have only ex-GEPpers and high scoring mainstreamers, I guess. Oh, one more difference is that the GE classes have less students than the other classes (like 32-33 while other classes have like 36-37 or something).
Anyway dear year 1s please start looking for the class trays! You know the GO has 2 entrances right? The class trays is at the one where you walk past the walkway(the little cafe area for visitors?)and then stop right at the back entrance of the GO? Because your angel letters will start coming out soon(our class already finished mortal allocation, that means enthu ppl will
be writing starting tmr, like me, and i alr wrote letters to some of you you know! so don't leave the letter there!)And class tray is an effective way of communication!
Yes, and someone (ahem) from 209 sort of accidentally revealed who her mortal was and, er, in front of her mortal. My friend from 109 told me anyway...

Arent RGS already fully aware and being notified by MOE new directive of this yr clampdown of DSA CO appeals ??
And thus, they even stated clearly in their website that
students who have accepted DSA offers from other schools can ONLY seek appeals
if there are strong reasons and exceptional circumstances ( such as medical reasons, example given by MOE ),
So my question is WHY would RGS still reserve many slots awaiting for DSA CO appeals ?
( how many cases would they think would have a valid medical reason or exceptional circumstances ??)
These so called \" reserved slots\" shd be released to centralised S1 postings.
It isnt that RGS is caught off - handed this yr.
This sets me ponder......
The sch being an independent sch def has its own discretion when comes to S1 posting appeals. -

Ah, i wonder who that 209 person is?
Yes, and someone (ahem) from 209 sort of accidentally revealed who her mortal was and, er, in front of her mortal. My friend from 109 told me anyway...
Nope i can assure you it is not me, i haven't been to my form class yet but i probably will drop in tomorrow morning during CES:)

Some frens alerted that the format for appeal forms esp the DSA Appeal form (for medical reasons) are not the same as previous year. The DSA Appeal form also put up at much later timing. The brother school also collect all the $20 and appeal forms earlier on. And, if the so called directive is so explicit, how come some schools tell the p6 kids (eg HCI) before option exercise and some don't
based on what we are reading from the forum ...oops, I better stop here, later got some 'straight talkers' come :pokeeye: :spank: don't want to go into who's right or wrong on DSA Appeal :slapshead:
In the past, the IPs have openly accepted DSA appeals so the reserved seats for these kids must have become a SOP.
So yes, seems like they are really caught off guard this year.
If not, sure don't have so many appeal vacancies. They might as well give those seats to WLs. I think they do not have WLs (not very sure about this) or even have, not a long list. -

Funx3 & Tinklebelle, can pm me your DD's name? Since all in the same class, maybe can get them to know each other?
Hi hipomum,
PM you. -
Lenny08:
Hi Lenny,Hi Tinkerbelle,
I read that in the post that your dd dsa via English.May I know does she need to commit to one cca in school as in drama or debate?
Thank you.
Lenny08
We just found out during the CCAO briefing that it is compulsory for all DSA academic (mainstream) students to take up a CCA related to the domain they DSA for (either as a core or a merit CCA).
For English, the options are English Drama (only offered as a core CCA), the Tribune (as a merit CCA) or Debate ( as a merit CCA).
Is your DD planning to DSA thru English? -
