Hi,

Any recommended school in the west for an agg 240 boy?

      ACS is ok?

But if you can get 14 more marks then go to River Valley High School, this is an IP school, but only need 254 to go in.
      😎

A few more points could probably earn him a place in Nan Hua, but in worst scenario, any comparison of the neighbourhood schools in the west? Commonwealth, Swiss Cottage, Fuhua Sec, which is better?
You can find out more at the open house at Commonwealth Sch and Nan Hua on 28.11.09.

However, taking Malay Language gives the student a chance to apply for the Regional Scholarship Programme - (rigorous selection and criterion) which entitles the child to a scholarship of $2400 per year and a $1000 allowance per year which is mainly used to pay for excursions, overseas immersion trip and expenses pertaining to program.

Student does not need a minimum PSLE cut -off as in the ESIS but of course, needs to qualify for the 3rd language and reasonable good PSLE results and CCA.

hi csc, the Regional Scholarship Programme applies to all 3rd language or just Malay ?

        Daisy

It is eligible for those students taking Malay as 3rd Language only. The program is only available to students in RI, ACSI, Victoria Sec and RGS only.

All the info can be found on MOE web, just that the book is easy to compare.

Basically I look at school vision/mission, character/academic award & band (ie sch belongs to which band for their 'O' levels) for comparing those that I have short listed based on aggregate & distance.

This is good information. Thanks. I like the banding information. Can we find out the banding of a particular school for the past few years? Because some school might be getting good result once in a while only

You're right. Track record is important. Eg. Nan Hua High was band 3 last year but became band 1 this year. Maybe that's the reason why the principal was promoted to head Dunman High. πŸ˜„ Bukit Panjang Govt High was band 2 last year but band 1 this year. St Margaret was band 1 last year but band 3 this year.

I think you got it a bit mixed up. St.Margaret was band 1 last year and remained band 1 (not band 3) this year for their normal stream.

Why some school like PLMGS does not have any posting for non affiliated student? Does that mean they won't take in outsider?
I heard it is a good girl school.
