Hi chubby mum,
No harm trying out for the audition though. You never know, your DD might just surprise you. Furthermore, it will be good exposure. :rahrah: -
I like the idea of connecting thru emails for parents who opt for that as handouts will be easily misplaced or not read if we work late. I also duno what is going on in class as my dd said teachers have not taught them anything, just talking n talking. It will be helpful if they allow us to sit in 1 -2 hrs in class nex week. My friend’s sit in 1 hr on day1 n this sat attending class at Sch on how to do computing with kids. Hope MCS will have this soon…will email form teacher to feedback. Guess more mummies feedback more chances…

jnemummy, I am also clueless as to what is going on in class. I was planning to email the form teacher to ask how I can be updated on what is being taught, so that I can revise with my dd. Perhaps I will also suggest she update via email. Even my daughter's childcare updates the parents via weekly emails. -

Generally, the teachers will follow the textbooks closely for Maths and Chinese. You can check with your DDs what the teacher taught them that day and that should give you a rough idea. However, for this week, there probably won't be much teaching going on.
However, for English, there are no textbook so it's harder to gauge what's being taught. English is taught through themes. The teachers will distribute an English teaching schedule soon, depicting what themes will be covered each term and the expected outcome after each theme is taught.
Just to give you you a rough idea, some of the themes covered in English by DD in P1 included:
Term 1:
Unit 1: I love my family!
Unit 2: My friends
Unit 3: Feelings
Term 2:
Unit 4: Sharing & Caring
Unit 5: Teamwork
Term 3:
Unit 6: Let's have fun! (covers games & sports)
Unit 7: Are you Hungry?
Unit 8: The world of animals
Term 4:
Unit 9: Transportation
Unit 10: Fantasy world
Hope this helps.

Tinkerbelle, thanks for the advice. This year, they are using the Casco Revised Primary English for a textbook alongside all the other readers (which I have not seen). The Casco book covers english in topics like nouns, pronouns etc. I recall learning English that way in primary school and its quite boring :snooze:

Michyms... expectation is different now for Primary one .. Nouns, pronouns are all taught in K1 and K2.. so P1 they are expected to know what are these...
