This so call jump is throughout all Pri, not just CHS.

The jump is P2 to P3, cause you will realised your kids P1/P2 result like very good, and P3 suddenly drop until your jaw drop.

The next jump is P4 to P5, you will see another round of result drop.

        Thanks JonC!

Some parents get stressed when their kids started scoring less than their \"usual\" range.

For me, the actual scores are not so important since it depends on the difficulty of the paper. After knowing about the \"big jump\" (many parents of different schools mentioned that ... though the actual level differed from one to another), it would be good to know the level's overall scores as a benchmark.

Is ur ds in GEP that's why transferred in P4? Very few pple transfer from P4 onwards unless GEP.

The AMEC is for GEP students. I think very few or even no mainstream student are there, unless exceptionally good. Previously AMEC is by invitation only, ie teacher select the very good ones in math, and the club prepares them for competition, math olympiad etc; but not sure if still by invitation only. You can email the teacher in charge. The email add should be on the CCA list, which will be given soon.

Young Aviators is considered an enrichment (in other sch, they are known as clubs & societies). In CHS, students have to join a niche CCA 1st (Sports, Aesthetics, or Scout), before they can join an enrichment (also include robotic, chess, bowling etc). You may check with the CCA HOD to see if this rule still applies now.

Your ds can go and take a look at the Young Aviators room to see if he likes. The room is on the same level and facing the parade square. He can ask the teachers for direction. They are sometimes opened during recess. My ds2 (not in the club) bought some DIY aeroplane models from them before. If the room is not open, your ds can still look at the models that they made & displayed at the window.

                Hi, Mummies and Daddies:

Anyone can advice me two thing:
                1) How usually Chinese teacher request kids practice ”习字“,how many times he need to write, My DS kind of blur, know need to write but forget how many times teacher request to write. (p4)
                2) Usually other school will ask kids to sit for "new south wales" test, how about CHS ?

Not too sure about 2 days a wk, but looking at the website:

                  http://www.catholichigh.moe.edu.sg/index.php/cca

One of the day is for young aviators, the other is remote control. It could be different days for different groups. Just like the sports cca, sch team & non sch team go on different days. As far as clubs are concern, usu only 1 day a wk. You can check with the teacher i/c for more details. Also, the sch will be giving handouts for cca soon.

                    1) not too sure, better ask his classmates
                    2) yes CHS also let students sit for NSW (includes math, science, computer, english, english writing). All students can sign up. No need to be selected. The school will be giving the application form in the early part of the year, just look out for it.

Hi; my son just transferred to catholic high p4 this year. Not GEP.

He is offered band-cca but he prefer to join the sport cca. Understand from the teacher is very hard to get to sport cca as they have quota for each sport.

My son was school floorball team player at his previous school, he is incline to sport.

please advise should he take up band cca or wait for place in sport cca. Thanks
