My child’s class have update (so far daily) both on e-mail and class blog. Both the teachers have changed this year.

Its the individual's practice, definitely not from the principal... my son's FT started daily emails to parents since he's in P1 last year. She's awesome! Of course am glad he still sticks to the same FT this year againCallie Tan wrote:
for the P2s, the school will be doing a bulk purchase for the social study textbooks...
And I have been receiving regular updates from my girl's FT this week on the happenings in class... am very happy with such interaction although I sympathize with the FT... quite tedious and tiring to provide such regular updates hence really appreciate the effort... Last year never had such emails at all... Wonder is it because of a change in principle....
Hi Callie Tan,
So gd of ur dd's FT to do updates of wat they hv been doing.
My dd gets bk her FT fr last Yr , so dnt think I will get updates fr her at all since none was done last Yr. Even my dd student bk was nt often updated. Only tells me verbally.

Totally agreed w Aggie that it is individual’s practice. We were even given the FT’s mobile no last year so that we can raise any concerns or make clarifications easily w the FT.
This year my DS is P3, the FT did not give us her school email account nor her ext no and didn’t even introduce herself to the parents (which the CL teacher did via a memo to parents). I understd that she is new PCPS so maybe dun what to do. I think such practice should be standarised within the school. We parents should at least get the basic contact such as email address and ext no. -

Hi, any parents heard their dd or ds mention anything bat fruit day?

My dd told me fruit day is every Thurs n they r suppose to bring a fruit n eat in the canteen. Ask her if she can buy the fruit from canteen instead of bringing it there, she doesn't know.
I can't find any notes from the FT on the topic tho.

-

I second that suggestion... parents should have the contact numbers or emails of the teachers.... The school should give some basic instructiuons/directions to all teachers pertaining to teacher-parent interaction.Totally agreed w Aggie that it is individual's practice. The time table given to the kids have the contact infos.... did you miss that out? -
My son was made to copy his timetable into his diary unlike last year, they were handed out the hardcopy.
Anyway, I have written a note to the FT on basic teacher-parent communication info. Shall wait for her response. -
Hi Parents,
I am new to this thread and also quite new to this forum site too.
My gal just entered P1 this year.
I have a few questions that I hope anyone of you can help me answer.
1) My gal has not got any time-table yet. Hopefully she will get it today when she is back. Does anyone with P1 children here has any info on time-table?
2) How is communication with teachers like? Through email? Or better through the blue notebook? Do the teachers respond quickly?
3) I realize that Pei Chun canteen doesn't serve very nutritious food as opposed to what I have heard that nowadays primary sch canteens serve non-fried food and very health conscious food. But we have noticed that they sell roti prata, fried nuggets, fish balls, and the noodle soup does not have a single vege, and chicken rice has no cucumber. Why is that so? Does anyone has any feedback on this?
4) Is Friday a designated PE day? So every Friday, students have to wear PE tee and shorts to school? No need to bring any skirt and blouse?
Paiseh.. I have asked so many questions.
Appreciate if anyone can enlighten this suaku parent

My DS is in P2 so I really cannot help on (1) but I thk by now, they shd hv the timetable... if not, you can check with the teacher via phonecall/email.
As you can read from the previous pages, different form teachers work differently - some diligently update the parents with daily emails whereas some (like my DS's) do not at all.
Unlike Kindergarten/Childcare whereby we parents always seek / obtain constant feedback from the teachers on our kids on their learning progress, how they behave in sch, their eating etc etc, in Pri Sch, with such a huge no of students and many duties to perform, most teachers cant afford the time/energy to do much updates to us parents.
PE lessons depend on your kid's timetable, normally they have PE twice a week and they are usually different from other classes.
