Unauthorised withdrawals from POSB/DBS accounts
-
Not sure how the passwords were breached, but I usually cover the keypad when I key. Just in case.
-
Maybe it will be a good habit to change ATM pins often like once a month or every few weeks.
-
saw long queue at posb atm machines…i checked mine also…ok.

based on the fraud case we see today, i dont think that is even effective
-
Note another precaution to consider - see page A16 of today’s (07/01) Straits Time on disabling one’s account from being accessed overseas : found on 2nd page of ATM screen under "More Services" tab under "Change of ATM Card Overseas Access".

Oh my god. This is scary… Have been checking my account regularly to make sure that everything is fine.

actually a simple solution would have resolved the problem any time and it is widely used by many many banks - each time a withdrawal is made, an automated sms should be sent to the account holder
what so difficult to do that ?
just like how NASA spent million$$ to research how to make a ball-point pen that could write in space… the Russians just simply use a pencil to write in space
some CEO just makes something unnecessarily complicated
the skimming of the data may not happen at the atm, it could happen at the POS terminal of any merchants
the bank could protect its atm 100% but not the POS terminal of any merchant around the world.
chipped-based card is not difficult to introduce too…most banks are using it now, except DBS
