      Hi,

My son (in P3 this year) has been getting $1.50 for the last 2 years. He tells me it’s not enough only when he has the mixed rice for recess - rice portion more than the food. If he patronises the other stalls, he’ll usually have a few cents to save.

        When I think Of it,
        6am - breakfast at home
        9:45am- recess
2pm- mOrning star lunch w rice
        6:30pm - dinner

Seems like recess no need to be too filling.
But when I go see him at day 1, he was complaining v hungry 😞

I think whether the food is enough is subjective plus lunch after school is quite late - so maybe that’s why your son is hungry. My son only brings $1 when he was in P1 last year. He will eat the fishball noodle and usually he won’t be able to finish. Fishball noodles cost 80cents. This year he decided he only wants us to pack bread or cereal for him. He says he doesn’t want to eat so much coz he wants to go to the library - book addict.

Pooh - think it doesn’t make a difference. If our sons were to go home and eat, it would be around that time too coz of school bus/public transport etc. In fact, at least showering is conquered before lunch.

My son also having Fishball noodles everyday.

And he say his buddy will buy food for him, then will go back to class already.

So, I think my son still doesnt know much about the school. Sigh…

I also packed sandwich for him today.

eileenp, don't worry too much. Your son will find some friends soon. 🙂 Oh, u can ask him to ask the older morning star boys any questions. I am sure they will answer them. Alternatively, can ask ur son to see which level is having same recess time as P1 and ask a morning star boy of that level to see if they can meet during recess to show him around. If your son is shy, maybe you can call the center and speak to a caregiver there and I believe they will be able to help you pair up your son with someone who will be able to help. Think the school teachers would have brought them around the school too for the 1st few days. The most important areas which your son should know are: canteen, toilet, school hall, library, school bookshop, school office - the rest he will be able to figure out himself slowly through exploration - which will be added fun. 🙂

Yes he is in morning star:) 1st day, they were paired with a pri 2 boy each to show them the shower time routine 🙂 So i probably seen your son but dunno which is him.

My boy is a big eater. like if we go out to eat say zhi char, he will need 2 portions of rice. But he seem not very keen on the canteen food. Everyday he have continental breakfast... 😞 muffin and garlic bread. give him $2 he eat 4, give him $3 he eat 6... makes me think if the garlic bread is very small...

On Monday, yesterday, he went without a P5 buddy so I asked him if he managed. he said he just went with 2 other P1 SIY boys from another group and talked til it was time to go to hall.. but when i asked him if he knew their names he said dunno.. gosh.. he just chin cai go lunch with classmates and never thought to ask their names....

Actually morning star seem q good. the lil boy enjoys it there as compared to kinderland.. 🙂 yesterday, picked him at 5pm, there were all in canteen playing ball.. kicking it around. Last Fri, they were playing monopoly.. so seems like a good mix of activity for their age.. Dunno if the homework kicks in will be as fun or not..

Anyone missing their boys? seems like 6am wake up, breakfast, rush to school, at night 6-7pm then see them again. Seem like a long time.
