Hi, no sharing about Admiralty? I am interested to find out more about this school, the academic and non acad (eg, CCA, or exposure of kids for different activities etc).

My DD will be starting P1 in this school next year. Are there any kan chiong mummies/daddies out there like me? Just wanted to know more about this school and its activities. And to get to know more parents of Admiralty kids! This school is popular but seems like no comments on this thread at all! :scratchhead:

Hi. My 2 sons studied in Admiralty Primary. The school is more relaxed in homework and controls amount of hours in total homework allocated to the kid. The school focuses on non-academic like NE (National Education). I am fortunate that the form teachers I have encountered so far cares truly for the students. My elder son’s P1 form teacher still remembered me after I met her last year in school. I am very impressed by my son’s P6 form teacher. She speaks British English and is really firm yet cares for her class of students.

Last year I wrote a complaint to the school admin office about poor customer service from the school T-shirt vendor and I got a phone call from the admin office to get more info and also an email from the principal who apologize on the school’s behalf. I consider that quite responsive.
I am happy with the school even though academically it is less driven but I can see the spark in my 2 sons and they enjoy going to school. I do not wish them to be driven so academically when they are so young so it meets my requirements very well.
My advise - if u want academic excellence, try other school. If you are looking for a school that cares about the kid and willing to give space to explore, Admiralty is good.

Thanks. Sometimes I don’t understand why people write into ST Forum and feedback on heavy schoolwork and academic driven curriculum. As a parent, u can always look for a more "academic-relaxed" school. Many parents go for top ranking primary schools which is naturally more academic driven.

As a parent, u do have a choice in primary schools and the core curriculums. My advise is always to look beyond the PSLE rankings and understand the core values of the school. I am sure there are many other similar schools like Admiralty Pri with many good and caring teachers out there, which do not produce PSLE top scorers, but has certain heart and love for their students’ welfare and development.

Thanks Pooh Bear for your insights. Personally I would like my kids to have a good childhood and not attending gruelling classes after classes. But the education system in S'pore seems very academically inclined with such focus on good grades. It is difficult not to worry that they will be left behind. But I'm happy to know that this school allows room to explore other areas other than academics and I hope my DD will be able to find joy in going to school cos I guess that is most important!

My kids are going to primary one next year. This is my headache time for my kid chooses school and school chooses my kid. May I ask if you have ever done studied among primary schools in Woodlands to compare which school is the best for your kids. I am supportive to your idea of choosing the academically relaxed school, I will choose with that criteria too. Besides, I am also thinking of choosing based on CCA the school can offer, that will help my kid to explore other talents if possible. Thanks.

Pleased to see Poor Bear's post which provides me some info about this school. I heard that it's very popular in this area but can't find more detail about it. so it's good to know that it's relatively not that stress for kids. I love that, especially for my son who loves to draw things and play.
