Yes, they can learn without knowing how to read notes. My boy started learning just after turning 3yo and has had 10 lessons so far. I suspect he can read notes though.

They will learn to read notes eventually. Ear training is also very important for music learning. Can your 3.5yo boy read stories already? If yes, he'd be able to pick up reading the score more easily bc it's just another \"language\". My older kids learnt music from much older ages (around 7 -8yrs of age), and they could already read, so reading music score was picked up quite easily.

I did not receive any PM.

Hi Parents, I am intending to switch my boy (6yo) from Yamaha YJC to violin. Any home based violin teacher to refer? I stay in Punggol.

Come across Joanne, Weihan and Felicia while browsing through the forum. Is the Joanne Chiew same as the Joanne I mention?

There is also Mr Khew from Crestar Thomson, any comments?

Prefer one with experience in teaching and guide on buying violin.

                      Hi,

I am looking for a female violin teacher for my 6 years old daughter. She has some background. We preferred a homebased teacher on week days. PM if anyone have any recommendation.

                      Thank you

I’m still looking for a violin teacher in SK area or can home teach… but wondering if my 3.5YO is too young? Though he can hold the pencil in the correct way since young, but he can’t really write properly…

Hope experienced parents can advise if I should start him on some group classes for some music background first or just straightaway get a 1-to-1 teacher?

If group classes, any recommendation which school or any contacts for good homebased ones? Thanks!
