New Seat Belt Rules : Height Not Age
-
Goodness, now booster seats are out-of-stock everywhere. Another attempt to boost demand? Merchants ordering high-end boosters - enquired and they don't know when the cheaper ones are coming in. What is this? Reap off? What better time to kill har?

don't shoot me :oops:Looking through all the posts, i realised there's one dilemma i face, that is not highlighted.
Both my kids (6 and
are relatively tall, but proportion not the same... DD is 137 cm, and DS is 129 cm. When they are seated, the difference is not so obvious, as DD has long legs, but DS has shorter ones - but his body is quite 'long'... So when seated, DS is almost as tall as DD (ok, still got little bit difference). Is there any case for him to be excused from the rule? Think about it, what counts is where the safety belt hold the body, so when a child (or adult) is seated in a car, the legs play no part in whether the belt will be strapped across the chest, or across the face (for a short kid).
So if the belt straps across my DS's chest just like any other 'tall-enough' kids, does he still need a booster seat?
but base on what you wrote, it seems more like both your children needs booster seats, rather than the other way around. -
so now all taxi must equip with the b. seats?

When DS turned 7, I gave the booster seat away...
and it was a hand-me-down!
Now ask me to pay $99 to get a booster seat!! :stompfeet:

Sorry, the poll should have included ,\"What the...\"
I have sort of like having a lag on my response to this issue...until I realize the consequence of my generosity. My gut feel was to keep the booster seat at first (since you'll never going to know what 'they' will suka suka do, and now I really :stupid: for not having listened to my inner voice.
When I first wrote about the inconvenience, I haven't scrambled to get the seat, since I knew they cost from S$20. Now, I irks me if the merchants are really taking the opportunity to reap the best out of the situation. -
ya, I think those hard plastic booster seat were going for $30~40, even sold at Cold storage IIRC.
When I gave mine away, I was wondering if people evn wanted something so old (fabric alrady stained) and cheap!

Actually, the lap part of the belt is very important. Without the booster, the lap belt will go over a child's stomach, which is still not very well-developed. The lap belt should go over the hips/top of the thighs for safety. In the event of an accident, a poorly positioned lap-belt could cause internal abdominal injuries. -
erm...if u are nt the fussy type, dun go for brands, etc... kiddypalace still hv some stock... i bought mine yesterday @ $39.. soft cushion kind... toa payoh branch
