Ah I see. Okay, but as I have taken higher mother tongue for o levels and got a distinction for it, I need not take it again for a levels.

Yes I think I've decided to take biology either because I cannot do chemistry nor physics and my bio isn't very strong.

Actually the reason I want to take 4H2 is because it would increase my chances of getting a scholarship. A 3H2 and 1H1 would stand a smaller chance. Correct me if I'm wrong πŸ˜›

Hi I wanted to tap on this thread.

My niece has 12 points nett and is thinking to choose either SRJC or TPJC?

Her house is 10 mins away from SRJC. While TPJC will require longer travelling time. Pls advise. Thanks.

            Her O Level results:

            English A1
            Chinese A1
            Bio A1
            Chem A2
            Maths A2
            AMaths A1
            Lit English A1
            Combined Humanities A1
            can minus 4 bonus (CCA+HMTL).

            1) What subjects combi?
Although she is more towards Art, she thinks Science will give her more options later. Maybe BCM-H2 & KI,Lit or Econ ?

            2) RI/HCI or VJ. Not sure if she even got chance since her Chem & Maths both not very strong. She’s also worrying about the culture in RI and not able to cope with the pace there. Is HCI a friendlier environment?

            Any comments/advise would be appreciated.
            Thanks!

Hi! I'm currently torn between AJC and NYJC. I'm planning to do a hybrid combo too, but idk if I should take up lit in H1 as I did not take Lit at my O'levels. And I am also uncertain on which JC would more more suitable in supporting a hybrid course.

These are my results, PLEASE HELP! πŸ˜„

                EL - A1
                EM - A1
                Hist/SS - A1
                Physics - A2
                Chemistry - A2
                AM - A2
Chinese - B4 (haha, my chinese has always been my achilles' heel)

                L1R5: 9-2 = 7.

Reply to u first as u are a senior member.

Students that made it from a lower tier jc are those with discipline and determination as the sucess rate ranges from 45-60%

SRJC has an excellent track record for PW taken at jc1 whereas TPJC is ahead slightly academically.

As distance is critical, opt for SRJC.

Like her results! Think she is gd in maths but not meticulous. To maximise her options later since she is a well-balanced student, suggest drop KI and opt for GP instead.

She qualifies for admittance to RI/HCI and both are tops so difficult to recommend. Suggest go by distance.

                      Edureach:

Subject combination: H2 Econs, H2 Geog, H2 KI, H2 Lit/Hist. H1 PW, MT. Total 10 academic units and is managable for u. The reason for dropping H2 Maths in this instance is u will be facing a squad of jc students with at least 75% having scored distinctions in maths not to mention very stiff competition from IP students.
                      .
Maths is not compulsory? I thot it is in most JCs.

Your dd is definately able to cope and excel at lit at H1 level. Recommended combi: H2 Maths, Physics, Hist and H1 Lit, GP MT. She will still be posted to science stream though is a hybrid combo.

                        Go to AJC!
