New Seat Belt Rules : Height Not Age

Huh... i really hope not. My kids are both quite tall. When we brought DS to P1 last week, his P2 buddy was one head shorter than him...
don't shoot me
but base on what you wrote, it seems more like both your children needs booster seats, rather than the other way around.
Really no chance? -
MummyThreeStreams:
Actually, the lap part of the belt is very important. Without the booster, the lap belt will go over a child's stomach, which is still not very well-developed. The lap belt should go over the hips/top of the thighs for safety. In the event of an accident, a poorly positioned lap-belt could cause internal abdominal injuries.
This one ok. Think both of them manage to have lap belt go over the top of their thighs already... -

Ok, then one yellow pages is enough. :rotflmao:MummyThreeStreams:

well you did said that your DD is 137 cm, and DS is 129 and when seated both are about same height due to DD shorter body. -

I wonder how if you are over certain height like Yao Ming, the current safety belts also won't be safe on you, right? I mean, the upper belt crossing your arm pit... -

It could also be interpreted that DD has long legs. Actually, one of DW's colleagues commented when visiting us in hospital when DD was born, was that she's never seen a baby with so long legs... -
concern2:
For Yao Ming, I think he cannot fit into any of our normal cars, with or without seatbelt... he might need those with a sunroof, with his head outside it... (like what i did when i was in armour unit in NS...)

Also reminds me of the movie 'Police Acedemy' decades ago... maybe he rip out the front seat, then sit on the back seat to drive the car... -

This rule is ridiculous all for the name of safety.
Imagine you can't give your friend and her kid a ride home if you don't have a car seat, instead you suggest she take a cab home not because it is any safer but because the law say travelling in a taxi without carseat is OK.
Yes , you are right my in law got a summon for travelling without a booster seat recently because I was tied up and couldnt pick my kid myself and i ask for their help to ferry my kid.
I really couldnt understand why is lorry transporting workers without seatbelt safer then children buckle up at the rear with seatbelt, if not why does the latter warrant for a fine. :? :? :?
