Frankly, i personally recognise the contributions of all senior members, sometimes may offer different opinions but that doesn’t erase my good opinion of them.

Your niece needs to work very hard in her two years.

Sorry, can I tap onto this thread too ?

My niece has 6 points nett and she is thinking of NJC…however, NJC’s COP last year is 5…any chances for appeal? Otherwise, another option is ACJC…

In terms of distance, NJC is a little more inaccessible, whereas ACJC has circle line

Haha, but you don’t think its worth it for me to take up Chemistry at H1 instead, because I’m not really much of a Physics person.

And do you think it would be safe it I took up h2 math, h1 chem, h2 lit or hist and h2 econs @ nanyang? I don’t feel inclined towards AJC much after attending their open house today.

If she intends to do science, place NJC as top choice follow by acjc and prepare for appeal. If she is a humanities student, just stick with ACJC.

Hi, my niece got 9 points (as stated below )and her nett score is 5.

A2 for English, A1 for E-maths, A2 for A-Maths, A1 for CHinese, A1 for higher chinese, A1 for Chemistry, A2 for Physics, A2 for Biology, A2 for Combine Humance (Elect Geog).

She would like to go to NJC-Science but she’s worried abour the cut-off point as she thinks that the general score is high for this year. She also prefer to go to school of the west side.

Will the cut-off point varies from last year ? Please advise ?

                Many thanks.

The hybrib subject combination suits your niece most. It's difficult to predict the cop for this year. Just put njc as first follow by acjc.

This is a situation whereby any of these two schools are well-placed to deliver a good education.

                  Many thanks.

NYJC definitely is more supportive of a hybrid combination. Every year there are classes in NYJC which are specifically for hybrid combinations. Subject combinations are extremely flexible in NYJC. The school practically allows you to choose whatever subjects you want to study.

Moreover the school is more up-to-date and I strongly believe provides a more conducive environment to study in as compared to AJC.

NYJC has a distinct programme in CLEP whereby no other tier2 jc has it. The school's infrastructure is new and its students are easy to mix with. I agreed it also has adopted a flexible policy in the area of subject combination. These are indeed the strengths of the school.

However, there's one thing going great for AJC, academically is the top 2nd tier jc closely follow by ACJC and Meridian jc. There are reasons behind it.

Yes, NYJC offers CLEP and it has been relatively successful. The school has constantly ranked among the best (even surpassing HCI in several years) for the H2 CLL subject. NYJC also offers the Art Elective Programme (AEP) which not many JCs offer.

A few years back NYJC might be behind AJC. But the school is catching up very fast and is narrowing the gap. If you look at the 2011 COP for NYJC, it's actually now the same as MJC. Comparing NYJC and AJC's cut-off points, both JCs actually have the same COP for Arts stream at 10. For science stream, NY is just one point higher at 9 while AJC's 8. Not much of a difference if you ask me.

NYJC's very hot in demand - more than 4000 people chose it as their top 3 choices last year while the school could only accept 800.
