I recommend AJC. It’s true that NJC is a better JC but don’t waste your time getting to school everyday.

Honestly, AJ is quite a boring school. NJ and AJ both are, but I’ve only been to one so I can’t tell you which is more boring.
But AJ is not a bad choice if you live nearby, besides you might have better chances of winning scholarships, topping the exams etc in AJ than in NJ.

Yes, your daughter will be posted to the Arts stream if she takes H2 Math, H2 Econs, H2 Geog and H1 Chem.

It’s a good enough combi to get into business courses in NUS/NTU (provided that she scores all As).
If she scored 7 points, I would recommend that she goes to ACJC. They are strong in arts and is a fun school. SA and NY are relatively fun schools too, although I’m not too sure how they perform in the A levels.
I should think that the reason your daughter only visited AJC’s open house even though she scored 7 points and is thinking of going to the arts stream is because of special reasons like distance from home. Do you live near AJC? Although AJC is strong in science, if you wanna take arts I would recommend other schools. But if you live nearby, it’s not that bad either.

No matter what is the outcome of jae, she will at least get posted to SAJC or NYJC. Wherever she goes, she still needs to put in much effort as she will be competing against the entire cohort not just her school. Only thing is that if she chooses ajc, must mentally be prepared for the challenging maths paper. Initially it tastes like poison but eventually it is actually nectar!

Hybrid refers to a mix of science and arts content subjects.

Hi, My dd has a raw score of 10. Eng b3 HMT A2 e Maths and combine humanities A1; 3 sciences and A Maths A2. Net score 6. She is not very a discipline person and not sure of what to do in future. Is she suitable for JC? We r staying in Bt Batok. Shd she go to jc or poly? If jc, shd she go to acjc science or jjc science?

Going by what you wrote, then a JC environment might be more suitable for her. The rigor in the JC will help keep her disciplined and structured.

The environment in the poly is flexible with a lot of \"free\" time in between - which is meant for students to do independent learning - and might not suit her temperament.

Alright, thanks so much for your comments! Putting nyjc arts as my first choice 🙂

Wonderful. The principal of NYJC is very good.

NYJC and ACJC are good choices.

These 2 JCs are able to strike a balance between academics and other activities.

AJC is too focused on academics, which may hinder all-rounded development. Strong in Science stream, but Arts stream wise, other JCs are better.

As for SAJC, rumour has it that the school hasn’t been performing that well in recent years. Not sure though.

Ah I see. Okay, but as I have taken higher mother tongue for o levels and got a distinction for it, I need not take it again for a levels.

Yes I think I've decided to take biology either because I cannot do chemistry nor physics and my bio isn't very strong.

Actually the reason I want to take 4H2 is because it would increase my chances of getting a scholarship. A 3H2 and 1H1 would stand a smaller chance. Correct me if I'm wrong 😛

I am encouraged by young people like you who humbly seek the advice of others in planning for your future. Yes, if you are aiming for a scholarship, 4H2 is the way to go. With careful selection of subjects and hard diligence, you can do well for the 'A' levels. Remember too that the organisations are looking for someone who has embraced a holistic education so you need to work on your CCA and develop your leadership qualities. All the best!

Thank you! Actually, I would really love to get a scholarship to study overseas. I'm interested to get a degree in either law or psychology. Any relevant scholarships or universities which I can take a closer look? Thanks again 🙂
