i didn't really read mine in sec 1, but i guess they can sound really tough. No worries, they are better than you think it is:) No why do sec 1 exams start so late:( I think mine starts in week 3 :faint:
The first graded exam for sec 1 last year was math. Non-routine problem solving. It's very easy, don't worry too much. It's somewhere in week 6 last year...
Anyway Choco I think I know which Math class you're in, and no, we're not in the same class haha

SLs are student leaders, and basically there're three intakes, in Sec 1 Term 2, Term 3 and Sec 2. Students hold this position for one term, and can only be an SL for a total of one term (i.e. you can only be an SL once). SLs are part of PB.
At the end of Sec 1, there will be selections for the four main leadership boards in RGS - PB, PSB, Congress and House. PB and PSB selection will be determined in a camp. All SLs will go for the camp, as will other pupils nominated by their teachers. This is the first intake. There is a second intake for both boards at the end of Sec 2. However, the difference is that PSLs have to apply for board membership after every year while Prefects hold the position till the end of Sec 4.
For Student Congress and House, there will be an interview conducted to determine admission. There are 3 intakes, at the end of Sec 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Members of these boards hold their positions till the end of Sec 4.
Other than the four main boards, there are also other leadership opportunities, for example leadership in CCA and in Class. Both have Excos and chairs and are good opportunities to develop one's leadership abilities, so you don't necessarily have to be in the four boards to hold a leadership position. -

Yes, being in Class Exco/Class Chair and being an SL is not mutually exclusive, in fact most Class Exco members in Sec 1 become SLs. However from Sec 2 onwards, you can't be in Class Exco if you're in PB, so as to let more people have a chance at leadership.

As for SL selection, difference teachers do it differently. In our class, the class nominated pupils for SL and then the form teacher would consult with subject teachers to select. I heard that in another class, students self-nominate. It all depends on the teacher, but if it is the latter situation, your kid must be prepared to be bold and nominate herself and sell herself very well!

But looking at the apple guard insurance, seems like not very beneficial to get the insurance. It doesn't cover a lot of things... Seems like gray area, like eg theft is covered but negligence is not covered.... Hoes to differentiate if lost is due to theft or negligence? Also, there is this excess amount eg any amount below $200, will not be covered, etc... Just wondering if it is really necessary to buy the insurance then? Also, should the vendor goes burst within the next 4 years, warranty for the 4th year who will cover as apple only covers for the first 3 years?

Yes. A Lot of Caveat for the Insurance Offered.
Apple Online store selling the Office Package with 3 licence for about $150+, if Shared by 3 students, each pay $50+ only, compared to the $82 charged. -

Not sure about Sapura, but another Apple shop I checked with says you need to prove that your macbook was stolen. If it was stolen in a caefe, it will be viewed as negligence. -

We will buy the MacBook Air from Sapura, but not with the insurance. It's a co-pay plan, meaning you have to pay a quite substantial amount especially on the Year 3&4.hipomum:
