Balloting for phase 2C within 1km is definite. Just a matter of what odds.

Although not 100% to be always the case, chances for a place under 2B are usually better than those for 2C. Anyway, no harm monitoring.

I agreed with mummy of 3, except the point on P2C unpopular school. The schools that have vacancies are not unpopular, they are just relatively less popular. And being less popular doesn't mean that they are not good.

Ballot is like gambling, leaving fate to the divine. I don't like that feeling. The 'what-if' factor is enough to drive me nut. I knew someone who tried and failed to get in in both phases. Ended up his girl has to travel all the way to Opera Estate. Sigh...

Nowaday, in P2A (old boy) sure be confirm in and there is no balloting. If u r going to P2C then u have to withdraw from P2A. But if u fail in P2C, there is no way to go back to P2A (old school). U will be going to P2CS that is left some vacancies for some 'unpopular school'...

Its gd to enrol in P2A 1st and monitor the situation when in P2C.

Hihi does it kinda mean - that I should just enrol in 2A first- and if 2C still looks rosy towards the end like the third day then I can actually risk pulling out of the 2A one and gun for 2C? Like fly down the 2c school?

And by 'monitoring', do yo mean observing the live updates of applicants count at the schools- phases-days and make calculated decisions?

You need to \"fly\" down to the 2A school to withdraw before you are allowed to register with the 2C school. Usually, one parent is stationed at one school. So, the moment the parent at 2A school completes the withdrawal process, the parent at the 2C school immediately registers.

Usually, parents do this in the last half to an hour before registration closes on the last day of P2C registration. Many people do that, so be prepared psychologically.

you can try your MP and your MP will probably write a letter to MOE and the outcome will still be no.


how is MOE going to allocate another school to parents’ whose primary schools are closed? if they allocate new or not popular schools, these parents will not be happy. if they allocate popular schools, other parents will cry fouls ! So MOE would just stick to the defined rules.[/quote]
