Not no exams… still got scheduled SA2 (final exams). But CAs and SA1 are quizzes taken in class, sometimes surprise tests. I was also puzzled why there was SA2 when they said no exams for P1. So, they will count spelling, show n tell, listening compre and quizzes etc as CAs and/or SA1, then SA2 is made up of real exam papers.

So this system encourages consistent hard work, not last minute mugging. More stressful for parents actually as sometimes the teacher won’t even tell you when the quiz is coming.

        Thanks Cherrygal!
Tho it makes me :? & :scratchhead:
Perhaps its a good example of a loosely used oxymoron... 😄

Seems a bit contradictory about encouraging consistent efforts for school work and yet there is a final. For a moment, I thought that we were moving towards formative assessments. Seems like summative assessments still rule.

Nonetheless, I do understand that change takes time and will remain optimistic about change.

If your DS can score above 95 - 96% for all subjects, he should be guaranteed in Band 1.

Hi Cherrygal....to clarify...are the results cumulative of all the work done thruout the sem + SA2 or juz SA2?

            Thanks!

There is a accumulated year score for each subject which the teacher will sum everything up based on the various test/ SA/ n the percentage assigned to it.

U will only see this final score at the end of the year.

1E parents, compare notes. DS says bring the My Folio file tomorrow.

Dear 1E parents, do remember to check into Marist Buddy for the list of items to bring for Art & Craft tmr - 16 Jan.

I was also told by DS that he's to bring 'My Folio File' for Social Studies tmr. I reckon TonyThomasMum's DS was spot-on last week regarding this; and I think my DS has most probably forgotten about it last week :p!

Not sure if its the same...for DS he had to bring:
                      a pair of scissors
                      Glue
a pair of wooden chopsticks (preferably can be recycled)

we were informed by DS form teacher that the padlock need not be brought yet as there were many routines to be learnt.
