I don’t think Bukit Panjang has the IP programme. River Valley has it.
But BP is the best school in Choa Chu Kang . -
Bukit Panjang is not IP.
FuHua is very strong in robotics CCA. -
My P6 boy brou back booklet 2 yesterday. Page 6 to 8 (Annex A1) show a list of school with its achievement table for special/express course, page 9 to 11 (Annex A2) schools for Normal course. Take note of Annex B which lists schools excluded from the banding exercise.
From these, we can hv a rough picture of which are good schools. -
Thanks everyone.
As the results not out yet, i can only guestimate around prob 220 - 240.
I checked the list. FuHua, Swiss Cottage seems within reach. Commonwealth too.
Comments on these schools are appreciated. And any sharing of other schools too are welcome.
Thanks. -

What about Fairfield at Dover? If your kid is able to handle the distance, SJI and St Andrew also around the range of 240. btw St Andrew is MRT accessible. -
thanks redred wine.
Fairfield cutoff for non-affiliated also very high, 247, if not wrong.
SJI , a bit far and school fees high. Don't know worth the traveling and the high fees if can get in? :? -

the COP for fairfield (non affiliation) is quite high, but the banding is 7 for 2008 and 4 for 2007. The school can't produce good \"O\" level result. One of the reason could be big disparity b/w affiliate and non affiliate, the average score was pulled down as a result. Is this environment good for student esp for those who come from non affiliated schools. :? Can any expert shed some light on this?thanks redred wine.

my ranking of the schools you mention:
1. Commonwealth Sec
2. Fu Hua Sec
3. Clementi Town Sec
4. Gan Eng Seng
5. Jurong Secondary
6. Queensway Sec -
Based on what I know, the MOE has a ranking system for schools.
Bukit Panjang Govt High is a Band 1 school. I think Commonwealth is also a Band 1 school. Fuhua Sec is a Band 4 school and Clementi Town is a Band 5 school.
I’m not sure about the rest but I can comment about Fuhua and CTSS.
Fuhua isn’t a good school. I have three Fuhua students (2 Sec Four and 1 Sec One) and from I’ve gathered, your kid is better off not going there. One of my students is a China national and he wanted to take Chinese Lit as a subject. Unfortunately, the principal refused to allow him to take it, her reasons being that he’ll bring down the school’s ranking if he failed the subject. As a result, my boy’s entry into JC is now totally dependent on his combined humanities grade.
Fuhua also has a very unorthodox system of teaching English. They believe in exposing the new students immediately to O-levels questions instead of taking a gradual approach. So, most students usually end up failing their Sec 1 English exams.
I did relief teaching at CTSS for a while and I would say that it is a relatively decent school. Their strength lies in their English department as their distinction rate for English is 60%.
I hope that the above information has been of use.
