Apple's upcoming iPad 3 will incorporate LTE connectivity, it has been claimed.

If correct - and since it comes from news agency Bloomberg, quite possibly through a managed leak; common with large, influential US news outlets - it will mark a big step up in the tablet's ability to access data services on the move.

Bloomberg's sources - \"three people familiar with the product\", as it describes them - also confirm the presence of a 'retina' display \"with more pixels on its screen than some HD televisions…[and] pixels small enough to make the images look like printed material\".

        And, yes, it'll have a quad-core CPU.

Presumably, Apple will continue to offer a Wi-Fi only iPad, so punters in countries where there is no LTE infrastructure - here, for example - can still get hold of the hi-res display and speedy CPU.

Production, claimed one mole, began at the start of January and will ramp up to a peak in February. The tablet will go on sale in March.....

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple sent out invitations Tuesday to a March 7 press event expected to be the unveiling of the next generation of the hot-selling iPad tablet computer.

The invitations featured a picture of an iPad and the words: \"We have something you really have to see. And touch.\"

The event is to be held at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts, where Apple has unveiled numerous products over the years.............

Two iPad 3 versions to debut on Jan 24: Report
                  04:47 AM Dec 31, 2011

The Taiwanese IT newspaper DigiTimes reported on Wednesday that Apple will unveil two versions of the iPad 3 at the iWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco on Jan 26.

Quoting sources in manufacturers in the iPad supply-chain, DigiTimes said both versions are expected to have better screens and higher powered batteries rated at 14,000mAH (up from the 6930mAh of iPad 2 batteries). The only difference between the two versions will be the camera: 5-megapixels vs 8 megapixels.

Apple is also expected to lower the price of the existing iPad 2 to compete with Amazon's Kindle Fire e-reader.............

Today I went into Nubox and asked about Ipad3 coz Ah Lau said it’d be launched next week but the staff had no idea. Even when I asked about the price, he also had no idea. Sigh. So is it going to be on sale here anytime soon?
