I was not able to access HCI website since morning yesterday.. glad it's up! DS reached home at 8+pm last night.. starving & dead tired.. after canoeing CCA trial. After that, still need to do ä½ę homework... sigh...
Is it for the kids to try out the CCA to see if they like it ?
Or, for the coaches and seniors to access whether the kid is suitable for the CCA ?
Aiyoh...I cannot get anything out of DS1 !!
And DH said...\"Let him handle his things himself la. No need to baby him already !! Sec 1 liao !!! He is on his own !!!!\"

Fret not. I think most of us are facing the same situation. The school's expect the boys to be independent overnight. It's quite a big leap and I believe it will take a couple of months before the boys adjust. -
Hi! My boy is P6 this year and he is keen to go to HCI next year. I have some questions to ask about HCI.
1) May I know is it compulsory to choose 1 sports and 1 uniformed group CCA? So does that mean that they have to stay back for CCA everyday (since sports CCA usually means training at least 3 times a week)?
2) Can someone tell me briefly about DSA into HCI? What is the format of the test and/or interview if there is one?
Many thanks in advance. -

Totally agree. All the IP kids are expected to turn independent overnite - how possible is that. Some boys can do it quickly, some can't. Same for hand-holding parents - also will take months to adjust but ultimately have to loosen the grip. How long can we hold their hands and help them remember homework, pack the right things, remember which forms to hand up, practise the right worksheets to ace that test/exam? We are helping our kids by letting them go and handle their own things. If they forget anything and get shamed/chided in school, let them learn. It's all part of this next growing phase called secondary school. We just monitor the deviations and nudge them back to the right course as and when needed

Dear Emelyn
I think is both ways. CCA trials are for our DS to try out the CCAs, to see if they like them.. as well as for the seniors/coaches to gadge if our newbie DS are suitable for that particular CCA.

Anyway, can anyone please advise if the Sec Ones can still sign up for trials? Thanks a lot. -

Totally agree! :goodpost: I have passed DS a pocket dairy last night so that he can plan his acitivities and jot down important dates. Hope all IP kids will grow up very soon
