I don't enjoy CNY because of having to put up with the pretence...only enjoy the break because it has been a little stressful since school reopened...badly need to recharge for CA1.
This year decided to have reunion dinner together.. ..then my MIL 'chud' pattern and want to have dinner this Fri as well.. ..so sianz even before CNY arrive..
Drama Galore  -

I don't look forward to the reunion dinner with in-laws and meeting pple I dun want to see. More comparisons over the kids...
Other than that, I enjoy CNY with my own parents, the food and the countdown on Ch 8.
I agree. For singles, it'll be the bombarding of questions over singlehood. Married couples predictably will be asked when a third member will be added. Families with \"oneders\" will be questioned if there's a plan for a 2nd child... and finally those with children will have alot of comparisons with relatives' children. Never ending questionssssss...
But I do enjoy the countdown on Ch8, it's my own tradition to stay up even if the rest are already asleep -

Same here.
Not just pre-CNY.....during the period, also xianzzzz cos' MIL stays with me and whenever their relatives visit, I have to clean clean clean..... -
I feel CNY is boring and a hassle.
Shops are also closed making the place seem so quiet.
Nowadays kids esp teenagers don’t like CNY too.
They rather meet up with frens than go house visiting.
Can’t wait for CNY to be over. -

I love the CNY break. CNY is the biggest festival for Chinese and nowadays, everyone are so busy so CNY is a good time to get whole family together and also see friends you rarely have time to meet.
CNY is less fun nowadays since more and more people don’t make the efforts to upkeep the tradition. I remember as kids, we loved the gatherings at my grandparents place where you see all your cousins and relatives and play together. With smaller families nowadays, the atmosphere is not the same. -
Don’t like.
Tried to find a holiday to go on but failed in agreeing where…
CNY for me is tolerating relatives bull-shxttxng about how well their kids are doing. Oh… Ah Seng is talking to investors who are interested in putting money into his internet venture (still talking after 3 years). Ah Mei runs her own design agency (whatever that means), Ah Jie’s husband is high-flying ang mo, can you see my mix-blood grandson so handsome? .
In recent years, I just bring along my camera and take pictures everywhere so that I don’t have to engage in the conversations too much. Very tiring. But the pictures every year look about the same. -
Don’t like CNY. Too many things to clean, too many people running to stock up food at supermarket, air plane fare goes up and cannot afford to go anywhere outside Singapore, shops closing so no where to shopping or some stalls pricing higher for food, like some zhe cha stalls…
I find some tv shows boring… -
Looking forward to the yummy Ba gwa, pineapple tarts and some other goodies.
Don’t like the visiting cause always asking and answering the same kind of questions.
I think the bigger malls are still open so still can shop shop around leisurely. Maybe there are New Year movies at the cinema…
