        Hi All,

I've read about this & find it really interesting...

My boy is now in P3 this year (2012) at NVP. Frankly, I regret choosing this school but because I used to stay just behind NVP, so naturally, I enrolled my boy there and when I went for the School Open house, I was amazed by the teaching methods, the software & IT items they use in school. But sadly, it's ONLY talk...The Principal love to boast about the school teaching methods but really regret.

Like some parents said, yup true : Involve $$$... P2 are required (encouraged) to buy Netbook which cost almost $800 ++ Need to buy from school as claim that school software will be build into the Netbook. Cannot use own netbook. Principal, really sucks. Don't listen to feedback, always \"cover up\" teachers mistake. It happen to me before. It's good that the Principal protect the teachers if Parents are too much or use vulgarity but if teachers are irresponsible, then the Principal should appreciate feedback. Cost of foods in school is consider expensive for Government school compare to other Primary School in Sengkang. Moreover, they have 2 recess : Snack time 10am-10.20am ,then : Lunch Time 12.35pm-1.15pm... They start school at 8.00am (be in school by 7.50am) end school at 2.45pm.

I remembered when my boy was in P1 (2010), they changed the school timing : 8am-3.30pm, which is super long hours for school except for Wed, they end at 12.30pm... After so much complaints from parents, they decided to change the school timing back to 8am-2.45pm...

A few unhappy incidents took place, I write in to MOE but sadly, MOE still revert to NVP to answer my complaints/feedbacks. Replied by school was not convincing. I shifted home last year and request for transfer but I did not get nearby school, so I choose to let my boy continue in NVP. Went to see MP for nearby school, still no progress. I really hope my boy can get out of the school which I am still waiting for the progress.

I'm still checking out the results of the PSLE (2011) from the students of NVP but so far, no way to check.. Haizz... If your child is already in NVP, maybe we can share info, can PM me.. Thanks 😉

Anyway, Just to highlight, this year seems there is slight improvement in NVP. Maybe because of too many transfer out and complaints/feedback from parents.

So for parents whom have NVP students, lets cross fingers that the school will make good changes. Anyway, in every school, Principal will not be in the same school for long... :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:

I’ve been receiving constant email feedback & clarifications from my son’s class form teacher since sch starts. Positive so far. I guess parents have to do our part & work closely with the teachers to achieve Reggio objectives. Principal can talk & boast but teacher is the one directly affecting the child’s learning. Looking forward to the upcoming teacher parent conference.

              Hie everyone

My child just trf to NVP this year. And so far, I’ve had positive feedbacks and experience with the form teacher so far.

After reading the forum, it seems to be there are a quite a few angry parents in NV, mainly because of the netbook and English textbook issues. I do understand that these are costs and money involved.

However, I’d appreciate any feedbacks from other parents about the experience of their children on the usage of the netbooks and whether their children English language had indeed improved. I’m one of those who looked for results, if the children are learning and these tools had proved their worth in delivering results, I’d b more than happy !

My son had a friend who’s also studying in the school, and the mummy had exclaimed that their class had been using the netbook a lot for their projects and school work, which I find it fair, since the school insisted all students had a netbook. It would then served their purpose in buying the netbook.

However if the teachers had not been using the netbook,. then it would have been very unfair to insist that students buy them. Maybe it’s the teachers fault ?

The school have 2 breaks: snack breaks from 10am to 10.20am and lunch break from 12.35pm to 1.15pm.

There is no staggered recess, therefore, during break time ALL levels (P1-P6) will be released at the same time.

The pupils have been feedback to parents that the Q at all stalls is very long, sometimes they couldn’t even get their food, even if they managed to but unable to finish on time.

Recess break is only 20mins, if they have to Q for 10-15 mins to buy their food; it is very obviously they couldn’t finish the food on time. Lunch break is 45mins, longer break time but some pupils still face the same problem because there are pupils even teachers jump Q, so for pupils who are less aggressively they lost out.

So I wrote an email; a VERY GENERAL FEEDBACK to the class form teacher last week, regarding my concern about the school snack and lunch breaks.

                    In the email I wrote:

“The population of the school is getting bigger, and with only one snack and lunch break for ALL levels, the poor children are facing difficulties to buy their own food. Every stalls Q is very long, by time the children got the food, the time is up….

Will the school consider having staggered recess? \"

The school indeed takes our feedback VERY seriously, so they started to carry out their “INVESTIGATION” without us knowing.

On Tuesday, my child and 5 of her classmates were called up into the principle office. In the principle room, there are 2 VPs, the class form teacher, the class English teacher, of course the principle himself.

Mr. Principle asked the 6 two questions.

1 – Is anyone of here disliking the school?

2 – Anyone of your parents here dislike me?

Personally, I feel that my feedback to the school on the staggered recess and weather we like or dislike the school or the principle is totally a different matter. I was the one who send in the feedback, they should have talk to me NOT the children. Obviously, I AM VERY UPSET AND DISTURBED BY THE WHOLE INCIDENT; I rejected the “invitation” to meet up the principle or VP.

As the school need to “close the case”, the VP called us again yesterday. She has all kinds of explanation on why they talk to the children first before meeting us and tons of excuses of not having staggered recess…The most impressive one is “Due to the school layout, we can’t have any staggered recess because it will be very noisy…”

I should applause to their creativity of explanation! :salute:

I will NOT recommend this school!

I can understand the frustration, are there ways to work around it though,!like bringing their own lunch?

My son is enjoying school life. This is half the battle won as far as we are concern. I will leave him to get his food, he has to learn.
Not defending the school, but how would u go about tackling the issue if the affected students cannot be interviewed?

The school doesnt allow us to pack lunch box for the children. Yes, i agreed with you they have to learn but it is wrong for me to feedback to the school about staggered recess? I thought we were encourage to give feedback or suggestion?of course, the school can interviewed the affect children, but must they be brought to the prinicple office? Can’t the form teacher talk to the affect children 1st and feedback to the prinicple. Even if the principle wanted to investigate personally, does the 2 questions he asked relevant?
