My girl is from SCGS… so if she passed the GEP test… we will have to start our brain storming session to decide whether to send her to NYPS or RGPS…

Looks like many moms here are looking out for that "Yellow Envelope". What if someone’s child calls home excitedly immediately upon receiving news of his/her acceptance into GEP and the mom posted her good news to share with everyone here. I imagine there’ll be many wringing their hands in anxiety, waiting outside the school gate. Child comes out and NO YELLOW ENVELOPE!!!

            Child : "Mummy, the GEP…!!!"
Mum : "Darling, it’s not that important to get into the GEP. We are already very proud of you to have come this far. I’m so pleased you don’t have to leave your friends and change school. Imagine having to give up your 2 hrs daily dose of computer games and 1 hr of Nat Geo. You’ll miss that, won’t you? The GEP is not a freeride to DSA. Not only do you have to work hard on the very, very tough GEP exams, you’ve to do well in your PSLE as well. So darling, let them slog it out in the GEP classes. You, my smart one, will stay in the same class and still remain in the top 10 every year."
Later in the evening, child goes to the mom "Can you pls sign this acknowledgement letter? I got into the GEP and the teacher gave me this cd-rom fm MOE."

Hi, just wanna add into the discussion.

My eldest boy get into GEP and is now at HCI. Our family is not rich, but just normal HDB folks.
I think any family can provide the right environment to the children, as long as there is harmony in the family.
And one of the key ingredient for good result is reading books, and most good books can find in national library, which cost us nothing but time and effort.
BTW I am one of the anxious parent waiting for my yougest boy result for his entry to next year GEP.
              Cheers.

It depends if you want the IP road.

                      If NYPS-NYGS-HCI and if RGPS-RGS-RJC

so time to think about it 🙂
