I am not a cash person, hardly more than S$50 in my wallet each time so actually feel uncomfortable moving around like an ATM - - hahaha

My plan is more or less finalised, only undecided whether to go Mt Fuji.
Which period are you travelling?

My plans are:
Day 1 - Arrive in Tokyo
Day 2 - Mt Fuji (join day tour) / Yokohama (own)
Day 3 - Harajuku / Ginza / Tobu Train Museum
Day 4 - Disneyland
Day 5 - Tokyo Sea Life Park + shopping (?)
Day 6 - Ueno + Children Castle (?)
Day 7 - Back to Singapore

Any comments?
OK? Too adventurous?

Oh that! My mistake, so sorry! Sumimasen! (memorize this word too) The airport limousine is fine. 3000yen is a decent price to pay for transport from airport to the city proper. About same price for the NEX train service too. So, I think you should go ahead with the limousine.

Japan is pretty safe for bringing around cash. Not 100% safe, but generally even safer than Singapore.

Oh, one little issue is that you'll end up collecting a lot of coins if you don't strategize your cash spending. Cos they still price things to the single yen. So you see all sorts of 319yen, 257yen, 122 yen price tags for example. Get used to the coins asap, so that you can quickly count them out when paying for things. Get rid of the 1yen coins before you come home!

We are now in Tokyo. For those, who are staying in hotel that are covered by hotel limousine. You can consider getting the airport limousine + metro pass at Yen 3100 for each day or Yen 6000 for 2 ways. But in the latter, the metro usage must be 2 consecutive day.

With the above, the metro usage is almost free. We find it cost savings. In our case, we are only staying in Tokyo so we are not using JR line at all.

We had lunch at a Japanese restaurant yesterday (those sushi conveyor belt), the salmon sashimi sushi was gg at Yen 130 per place. Rather reasonable and big piece of salmon too. For most of the places, the food for rice/ noodle is around Yen 950 - Yen 1200 depending on location. We found the food at Ameyoyo area (Ueno) cheaper than Asakusa area (looking at those plastic food display).

We went to Daimaru food hall and gosh, I think the prices are really exp. I thot the conveyor sushi price was alot more reasonable and value for $.

I type out a plan on where to go and had all the transport (including station to get on, place to alight and change train, etc...) paying specific attn to the line. It was a breeze. The metro seems complex initially but when you get used to it, it's relatively easy. But going online helps us to plan in advance. For those that need to change line, it requires you to get out of the station and then walk to the entrance for the other line. some could be around 200 mtr away. So having a package metro card helps.

We also went to buy the JR bus ticket to go to Gotemba outlet. Boy that was rather challenging trying to find the bus terminal to purchase the tkt.

Well.... after a day of walking, I think my legs are gg to give way. We still have 3 more days to go :lol:

Lastly, for shopping fanatic, check out burberry at the mall. It's supposed to be blue label (cheaper version to target to Japanese youngster's affordability). Seem to be something worth looking at. While at the mall, we saw some sporeans checking that out too. It ranges from Yen 25K to Yen 41K. Ability to claim 5% consumption tax for purchase that are Yen 10K & above.

For such a short trip, it will be too greedy to include Hakone.

Personally, I think DisneySea will be more interesting than days 5 and 6 that you planned.

Like what LWM said, it'll be too much to include Hakone, though its nice to visit.
Not going Disneysea, DS not interested. He wanted to visit aquarium. As we had already went to the one in Sunshine City, so thought of trying out Tokyo Sea Life this round.

Day 2 decided to go for Mt Fuji, since that'll be the only place confirmed seeing snow.

Day 5 will be whole day in Kasai Rinkai area, to cover the park and aquarium.

Any suggestions for Day 6?
Need to bring my mom to Ueno as she wanted to buy scallop/seafood stuffs there. What else can be done?
Any suggesstions?

I am travelling today

If you join Mt Fuji day tour, most likely u will be including Hakone as they are nearby. Not sure about Mt Fuji and Yokohama combination. Usually the local tour packages I saw on the web is Mt Fuji/Hakkone.

For Ginza and Harajuku, try to arrange for Sunday noon.

For Ueno, I am planning Ameya Yokocho shopping and Ueno Park to see the autumn foliage.

Not able to provide much advice - I will share more tips during/after my trip
