Hello! i'm new to this forum. my dd is in class 1.6. she told me yesterday that her chinese teacher spoke very fast and she didn't understand what she said...
Hi flotan,
Welcome to the forum
My son is in 1.6 too...my son mentioned that he moves to class 1.7 for his Chinese, so I am not sure if he has the same teacher as your dd?

Hi mommies!
Wow...it's so good to see our forum thriving after a long (a week) of absence from this page...:-) So many good discussions here right now...but well, we went through a lot the past 2-3 weeks...
My son, whom we registered at the before school care had so much tantrum and was being so stressed up....finally decided to pull him out from the centre only today.
A few points to share:
1. Nametags - mentioned by the school teacher that there has been a major miscomm btw the bookshop and teacher. Hence, we were asked to pay again for the nametags. Went to the school to clarify with the bookshop lady and was later advised by the class teacher to wait for my son's name tag! :slapshead: So until today, name tags are not ready!
2. Tomorrow's CNY celebration - yes, my son had also said to wear red top and bottom! Ha ha...but i teacher did mention that if they do not have, it is ok. And if your child has PE tomorrow, but do not know how to change his/her costume to PE attire, teacher suggested that no need to wear the red/traditional clothes. Just the PE attire will do.
3. Spelling list - yes, both were issued...Chinese spelling starts on 27 Jan for my son who is in 1.6. English will be first week of Feb...
4. Bully - my son encounter school bully today! It was a girl and happened when my son dropped his coin while buying food at the canteen! He dropped 30 cents and as the money rolled off, the girl came by and shouted 'It is mine!!'. She took the $ away from my son and my little one did not fight back... :? We had advised him that should this happen again, he should tell the PV immediately or report it to a teacher in the canteen...so, ought to teach our little ones out there.
5. Don't forget to submit the Edusave form for payment of the enrichment , etc fees by tomorrow...:)
6. Lastly, we have no plan to enrol our son in CCA this year yet...need him to get used to the school and settle down first before CCA. Afterall, he plays drum and swim over the weekend...enough CCA for him...
Best regards,

Still not received Chinese spelling for ds in 1.4 but has mother tongue in 1.6.
Do join PLG if you like to have your opinions heard by the school.
The school admin will be looking into the name tags issue regarding the current situation. -
One more point to note…
All students are required to be seated and read their own story book (other than school book) while waiting for 1230 mass to start in the hall everyday.
Students who forget to bring will be asked to stand up and that may be quite scary for P1 students…
So remember to always pack an additional ‘home book’ in their school bag everyday!

Hi, Twinkeless
Only just saw your question. Dont have the letter with me now, but if i recall correctly, it is red clothes. And children are encouraged to put on the traditional ethnic costumes if they have. For those with PE today, they can bring the PE attire to change out. That's roughly what the letter wrote.
But I do agree with what Fabbymom's child's class teacher said i.e. if the child does not know how to change his/her costume to PE attire, the teacher suggested that no need to wear the red/traditional clothes. Just the PE attire will do. -

Heheh. I asked my boy boy just now. He says those who keep talking will need to stand up :salute: -
lilipitz:
Yes lilipitz...when he told me that in the car on the way there, I almost pack my Singapore map directory into his school bag!!! :rotflmao: Luckily on that day, I found his little nursery book behind my car and had him taking that book instead!
