Like in Feb this year, I gave my mom a kiss on the cheek to wish her happy birthday. She was so SHY about it! A half-smile appeared on her lips, but she didn't really look directly at me.

On the other hand, when our DD does that to our parents, they appreciate it. In fact, my mom and one of my uncles and my male cousins(!) demand for the cheek pecks from her. [/quote]I smack a kiss or give a hug to my parents anytime I want. Even in public. They are okay with it because it has been done since young. I dont call my dad \"Dad\". I call him by nickname.

I think if I give my mom a peck on her cheek, she will feel weird too.
I kiss and hug my children everyday and that really bring us closer.
I am hoping that my DD does not think that when she's 15/25/35, it will be embarassing for her to kiss Old Me. Or for me to demand it.... 😉

I think if this has been done all the time, it should come natural 🙂

Erm....not so with my boy. I used to hug and kiss him when he was young. Now that he is in P6, he gets self-conscious about all these mushy stuff.

              kuzco,
my boy P1 only, and his response to my request for a peck on the cheek?
              \"disgusting and embarassing\"

My P4 DS1, P2 DS2 and K1 dd ask for hugs and kisses every night before they sleep.

And P4 DS1 will ask for a hug in the morning before he goes to school. Even if I am still sleeping, he will wake me up for the hug.

I hope this will continue for as long as possible…

I kiss, hug and hold my kids hand in public still, age 10 and 8. Even in their school compound. Ever ds friend commented \"eeeee.....\". Quick retort from him, \"I love my mummy. Don't you love your mother too\". 😛

So sweet of your kid. My boy promised me that even if he is in P6, he will still allow me to kiss him too.

As my job does not allow me to work part time… start early and end early scheme… I have been contemplating to quit from my work for abt a year now.

Reason for quiting – My son is having PSLE next year and i shld give him more attention and be around for him just in case he needs help with his work… I have been working all along and my son has been in child care… student care all this years so is time for me to do my part.

I can relate to that Herbie.

But don't rush into it... Your son will probably not be used to you being around suddenly. No doubt PSLE is a major exam and a crucial point in their education journey. (one of them atleast..)

Nevertheless, what ever your decision, you can take heart that there are always people around you who will give you the moral support. 😉
