Sorry, Protex.. not sure if it's already too late to reply you. DS says no PE attire allowed tmrw. If DS not wearing their own clothes = they are to wear full school uniform.
Do you think we can wear PE T-shirt?
Wearing own clothes = dress up, not dress down = no round collar tshirts allowed. Must have collar type of shirt (not sure if Polo tees counted as \"dress up\").
Give up. DS decides to wear School Uniform... to be on the safe side.
(maybe this year my DS can just be the \"observer\"... next year can wear his own clothes for CNY celeb, if he still wishes) -

This can't be for real. Going to Q class because of songs ? What a joke. Relax, try to have fun. Learning is a journey. This is what I would tell my DS.
Hi 3993, is your DS in 1O4, please? or are all (most?) the classes also told to learn the 4 songs otherwise gets transferred to Q class? :faint:3993:
Hi Lion_king,
Finally someone shares the same thought. For me, I just don't understand why the school emphasize some much on the chinese songs. DS has been worried about being sent to Q class if he can't master the songs. Even the adults have problem reading the chinese characters. My DH and I are seriously thinking of transferring him to another school.

Dr Hon will be on National headline news if someone got posted to Q class because he canβt sing. LOL
Relax lar, the boys are singing as a group so long he opens his mouth he sure pass one lar. -

:imcool:[/quote]Agree, the kids have just started a new journey and it takes time for them to settle in. Let them take everything thrown their way in their stride and have some fun in the process
With the songs, parents here have been wonderfully supportive with pinyin translation, links to songs. I have used them to help DS. He says the songs will come to him in time and I think they will too to every other student in time.

No, my DS not in 1O4. His teacher did not say anthing about Q class, but some boys were given demerit points for not being able to sing. My DS, DH and I are reading KS forum everyday...so we know the consequences of not mastering the chinese songs....
I can only say my DH and I are really KS parents :hugs: -

The anxiety comes more from parents who do not know the rationale behind it. For those who slack and fail due to too much gaming, or for whatever reason, they go Q class in yr 3 to get more \"attention\" and if they still dun 'wake up' they go Q class in yr 4 to get prepared for 'O' level rather than have to leave for another sec sch or leave IP without a qualification for poly or else where.

So Q class only comes about in Year 3 right? In essence an O level class for those who may fare better at O levels rather than IP.
