Is there recommended textbook for IS?sunshine123:
Hi fellow JH1 parents,
May I know have any one of you bought the recommended text books for IS? If yes, where and which bookshop to buy from?
Thanks so much.studylikemad:
:thankyou: Just checked the list. We have 2 of them already :imcool: , 1 physics and 1 chem as DS1 uses them in SJI too. We ordered them directly from pan pac previously, but I'm sure you'll find them in Popular since they are common text books.Yep,it's in that IS science letter which they gave on the first day.I'm in JHl07 anyways.

Hi,
Did your teacher mention to buy all the recommended textbooks? Or which are the must buy or must read?
Thanks

Dear dlns_mum,
Just out of curiousity, which are the 2 books- 1 physics book, 1 chemistry book that SJI are using?
Thanks so much for sharing.:) -
Dr.K:
Do anyone know how the students are placed in different classes? Is it by balancing the sexes or CCAs or is there are some other criterion/criteria?
This question was asked by one parent during Orientation. This was the answer given:
1. Based on the type of learner your DS/DD are - Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic. All students were assessed for this and all parents received a report also.
2. No congregation of same school students.
3. Proper balance of boys and girls.
What wont be considered is PSLE score. -

That's what's claimed but, the classes have already been decided before orientationDr.K:

Since we are all used to a clear regime in Primary, when our children go to secondary, especially to an IP school with it's own notes/materials, it's a bit hazy for us.
I've gone thru a bit, the module notes given for LA, Maths, IS and IH. Since we are used to go thru structured lessons, this approach for our children seems to be different. Nonetheless, the materials seems to be refreshing.

No,she just said that it would be a good supplement to our notes as we do not have a proper textbook so,there's no need to buy all the recommended textbooks,as we wouldn't be using it in class. But the notes are given out in the form of individual booklets for each chapter,so if you want to learn ahead of the class, you should get the books.studylikemad:
Yep,it's in that IS science letter which they gave on the first day.I'm in JHl07 anyways.
