Hi. Can anyone offer suggestions or advice to my situation? I stay in the east but there are no schools within 1km with haig, chij kc, tanjong katong within 2 km… I will be trying for:

              1) rgps under pv for 2b but stats don’t look encouraging esp. if the classes r reduced and >2km…
              2) pei hwa under church for 2b but kinda far and very competitive as well
              3) chij kc for 2c.

Im worried as there are no schools within 1km, hence risking balloting at 2c. Can anyone advice? Thanks

                Hi there,

                Same situation here..
I am doing pv for rgps. It's very likely the school will reduce 1 class this year to 240.
Many advise me to secure 2a in peps instead of going for 2c as I stay within 1km. This school is too popular in 2c which i still don't know why?
I am still trying to understand the popularity of this school even their standard seems to be average like any other neighboring schools around that area.

It looks like all 3 are high risk for you. Maybe you can try look for those neighboring schools which are not too bad and within 2km that you might stands a better chance. It's better than going to somewhere not even your choice.

You may want to consider moving <1km of rgps or pei hwa for better chance since there is still time. It is also better for your child in the long run as the school is nearer to home and traveling time is grossly reduced.

Happy New Year to one and all! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:

Well, moving is really not an option for us as 1) cant afford property in bt timah and 2) we want to stay near grandparents. So we just gotta get a backup nearby but the worrying thing is that there aren’t any schools within 1 km of us and seems like all the other schools in the area are rather popular even in 2c. I wonder if MOE will have some suggestions rather than asking us to move.

when we register 4yrs ago, the only school within 1km is a girls school. so we registered our boy in a neighbourhood school >1km (within 2km) that we were sure that sure will have vacancies as moving was not an option for us too.

IMHO, CHIJ KC or Haig Girls' would be my choice as the kid need not spend too much time on traveling and can be quite assured of a place in these schools though balloting outside 2km was needed last year for CHIJ. It might or might not happen again this year.

                        Good luck.
