          Hi Mummies…

I read with great interest all your comments about getting your girls to school in time. I was an old girl but lived far away from Holland Grove Rd then, had to wake up at 5 ish am, was the first to board the school bus and last to alight…long ride to and from school.

I’m super KS, I suppose as my girl is only 14 months old but am hoping against hope that RGPS will move to the Bishan area after hearing about the horrific traffic congestion along Dunearn Rd!

Was actually thinking of sending daughter (yep…just started walking only!!!) to St Nic’s which is much nearer to where I live but no chance coz we’ve no affiliation or live within 1 km of school. HAHA my friends who have bought properties close to RGPS just to get their daughters in there will shoot me for having such a thought…

Who knows…6 years down the road the move to Bishan may just happen??

            Hi ladies,

Can you advise me if RGPS accepts PVs and if so, must we live within 1km? Would it be possible to shed some light on the PV application procedure? Any interviews etc? Is the competition to be PV tough? Thanks so much!

Yes RGPS accepts PVs and during my time, u dont have to live within 1km. However judging from recent trends, it would be quite tough for u to get in if u stay out of 1km. So I am not sure whether the school now accept PVs staying out of 1km only or not, since it would be quite demoralising for PVs to clock in 40 hours then getting rejected of a place.

And yes there would be an interview. U may want to call up the school to check whether PV application for ur child's year has commenced or not.

Thanks Luanee. Usually what kinds of skills sets are preferred for PVs? Would it be project-based like SCGS PV? TIA

                  Times have changed.

now they increase to 60 hours. No more 40 hrs.

part 1 of the PV application form states for 2B, need clock in 60 hrs minimum:-
                  http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?hl=en&gbv=2&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=938l3125l0l3360l12l11l0l4l0l0l219l1032l1.5.1l7l0&q=cache:qY5lK_pUpBIJ:http://www.rgps.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=download&rid=1133258+rgps+PHASE+2B+PARENT+VOLUNTEER+APPLICATION+FORM&ct=clnk

part 2 of the same form - indicate areas to contribute.
                  part 2 :-
\"The school requires assistance in the areas listed below. If you have the skills / expertise in these areas, please submit your proposal to the school.\"

                  Specific Requirements

                  2. Writing (English & Mother Tongue)

if you happen to have project based industry experience that spans more than one area from above list which you think might benefit rgps pupils, you may also propose the objective & details, let her review & comment.

                        ooioo:
                        Hi Moonee, Tania, ER,

I totally agree with all of you that if given a choice, putting your child in a school near by is the right choice, that is why MOE have the 1,2 km thing for P1 registration.

My girl was from a neighbourhood school, we used to walk to school everyday, then MOE says that she is special and the nearest special school is RGPS. So now i am stuck in this position, else my girl used to wake up 6.50am and is the first few to arrive in her school.

But the giss of the matter is that sch bus transport here sucks big time, why so many parents, who are not well to do enough to drive, and send our kids have to suffer from lousy services.

If the students are working adults and if the school is a corporate/company, they will arrvie only 5,10 minutes before office/school hour starts.

Just because students/ children don't complaint, their timing is shifted to ridiculous hours and timing
Hi ooioo, I do not think the bus arrive at 6.45. My DD told me it is ard 7.00 am arrival.

I am quite sick of this bus company serving RGPS. They have been charging rocket high prices ($95 each DD) and they refused to come into the porch even when it is raining. My poor mum gotta stand in the rain and sun to wait for my DD. It is not of extra distance and they simply refused after I requested nicely from them.

For the whole of 2011, my DD do not have a bus attendant as she is the last 2 to disembark and 2nd to embark daily. This is in breach of LTA rulings, I believe.

The bus driver has left my DD off on her own cos I was waiting at HIS DESIGNATED DROP OFF POINT and he decided to turn into my porch without a call or anything. How can they leave our P2(then daughter) on her own?? Where is the sense of responsiblity and it was not my fault for waiting at a more inconvenient place he insisted?

The current bus attendant do not even disembark to help P1 students struggling with their bags to mount the bus steep stairs. Instead she was simply grabbing thier arms. If there is really a fall, wun that dislocate thier shoulders?

All these for $95 a month each?

I can certainly discuss with you on car pooling.......
