Dear parent:

What cos me to look and browse this wedsite today is due to unfortunate event that happen to me and my DS at the canteen today (25jan12).

I brought him to canteen to have lunch prior to his classes. We arrived at 11.30am. And he bought his place of fried rice. (his favorite since day 1)
Afterwhich i told him to get himself a healthy drink (i.e yogurt drink) from the drink stall. What happen nex............

I paid $0.90 and went off to sat with him. off my head, told my DS to check the expiry date. OMG. Sway sway the bottle of yogurt drink expired Nov11. Is Nov 2011!!!!!

I went back to the stall and ask for an exchange etc. The auntie act innocent and blur blur!! She explain to be that this type of yogurt drink no need to put in fridge but she put in fridge. I told her off. It is not about the storage temperature, it is abt it expire in Nov2011!!!!! She exchange the bottled to a packet format yogurt drink ($0.60) and refunded me $0.30. What happen nex.....

She happily put the expired bottled yogurt drink back into the fridge! I blow to my top!!! How can she do that??? I demand her to take all the bottles out immediately and I walk straight to the general office. Also when back home, the more i think abt it I was worry abt the rest of the kids. I called the vice principal to inform the matter.

I am really sad such a thing happen. 😞
Just want to warn you all (mummies), maybe just tell your DS or DD to see the expiry date when they buy the drinks.
I am sure that vendor just wan to try her luck as our little ones will not check the expiry date.

Good note, LYL10. I didnt expect this to happen in a school canteen.... they could have done it better...

thanks LYL10. Can you share what did the vice principal say when you inform her? wonder if we can complain to MOE if school doesn't take any follow up action... http://www.moe.gov.sg/schools/canteens/
You might want to check back with the VP mentioned. I believed they'll give warning to the vendor as understand that the school emphasize the health and well being of the pupils..

        Hi Flotan

yes, PE uniform needs to have the nametags too. Tried ironing but had to stitch them eventually as it dropped out after washing.

Hi mummies: I did not called the Sch back on the yogurt issue since that day. But Ds had been telling me that mummy I checked on the drinks that I buy and I told my friends too 🙂

Oh and taurbear mentioned that it will be brought up to plg right?

That day was really thinking to go all the way to feedback to moe.

Anderson primay had food poisoning issue sometime back if I am not wrong.

Hi, parents of 1.6 chinese, was wondering how come the Chinese teacher did not collect back the ting xie book? Or my son did not hand in and put it bk in his bag? They were not tested only the 5 hanyupinyin fr the list,2 more not fr the list were tested too.And why the Chinese teacher asked them to copy 5 dates in his handbook? 02/03,01/26,02/10,02/14 and 02/21?? He told me those are the dates for Ting Xie (suppose to be on every Fri). But I only see 2 correct dates, and 1 was yesterday? We are so confused! Appreciate if any parents or his classmates can share w us wat’s going on. Thank you so much!

Here’re some nuggets of info that my son shared with me today:

                  - he wrote down onto his math homeworksheet to put on PE attire on Monday. He says it’s because his class will be getting their injections that day

                  - he says there are bottles of beads - one for each class - placed in the canteen. He says that class 2.7 is the ‘best’ as they have the most number of beads. I asked him what the beads are for, he says he doesn’t know. He commented that the p6 classes have no beads in their bottles.

                  - we received a letter about upcoming informal assessment on English show and tell. Guess the pace is picking up. I will be so anxious for my son when it comes later this term!

                  - he complained to me about p1 work being more simple than k2. Had to remind him that the term just started

Talk about canteen food, today my son had his lunch there becoz we paid a visit to the sch dentist. He bought fish and chips. Guess what, the fish wasn’t cooked thoroughly! And the auntie said the fish is like that one, it won’t break away when u pull it apart with the fork. Duh! Anyway, she gave him another fish which was ok. The fries was so overfried it’s hard. The sch canteen sells a lot of deep fried, overcooked food. Not exactly healthy.

Luckily I pack his recess food so he won’t be eating much of the canteen’s food.

Mashy, sounds terrible. I wouldn’t want my kid to be eating undercooked and unhealthy food too! Actually yes I find the selection of canteen food not very healthy. Not much vege. And was shocked they served heavy syrup drink to the p1 for the recess time programme on the 1st day of school.

I was kind of ‘trapped’’ in sch today becoz my car was blocked by the sch buses. So took a look at the stalls. I took a look at the food also don’t feel like eating. Sigh. I never felt it was so unappetizing in my own primary sch!
