same here, always believe that if a child is happy at school, he or she will learn better. my approach is that DD/DS need not be the top scorers in their class/level, I just want them to try their best whether it is academic work or CCA. If they are at the bottom of the class but if I can tell it is their best, I'd be contented, albiet with a bit of disappointment too lah, I wont deny thatYes Orangejuice, i told my dd as long as she makes good progress in her academic work and CCA, i will be very proud of her. Also her rest and emotional state are very important (consider adolescent changes bring anxieties too), so I am not bother if she does not take up any other new challenges, in fact, I simply told her to stay away ....
easily contented....

yes, told my dd that even if she is the last in the class, she is still very good compared to national level... so she feels much more confident and tries her best :rahrah: -
hi, cca book is up and working, no problem logging in.
DD was not offered any CCA, she is on waitlist for 2 CCAs.
Need advice (sorry againβ¦) - DD would still need to enter 6 choices of CCA right ?
Her 1st 2 would be the ones she is on waitlist, as for the remaining 4 choices, I think HOD for CCA mentioned in her memo that one has to be UG, did I understand her correctly? Also can she still include those CCAs that she has tried unsuccessfully in the earlier round for the 3 remaining slots or do they have to be CCAs that she hasnβt tried for ?
Thanks very much !

Students who qualified for Math Olympiad training were selected based on a test which was open to all Year Ones. Of those who sat for the test, the top 30-40 or so were selected for training. Not surprisingly, those who DSAd via Math would be among those who qualified as this is their talent and they would have excelled at the selection test. Being the top PSLE student doesn't mean you're better at Math than other students who sat for the test. You don't get selected based on your PSLE score. The system is fair. If you do well at the selection tests, you get selected.
As for class allocation, it's clear which are the GEP classes and which are the mainstream ones. The students are also aware which are the classes with DSA Sports and Academic students. But why is this important? All the students do the same programme and sit for the same exams. Let's not compare the classes and say which is the best class. Does having a top PSLE student in your class make yours the top class? Does having Math DSA students in your class make yours the best class? Are you a top student by virtue of mere association with top scorers and DSA students? No. Your child is a student in her own right. Be proud of who she is and that she got into a top school on her own merit.
:hi5:
Totally agree that selection for MO was very fair.
Everyone who was interested, including those who DSA through Math, had to sit for the selection test and clear it.
There is absolutely no need to compare.
We also do not need a best class!
Our girls are already in a class of their own!

haha, no prob, its a good word: enjoy. mine enjoys her school very much still. Yesterday, dd's CCA seniors bought her a birthday cake and the whole cca team celebrated her bday
DD came back feeling so special and happy with the love and support received from classmates and teammates. told me that in her classmates are very much into birthdays celebrations too and they celebrate everyone's so far...
dd did not say much about philosophy yet....... so i shall not ask  -

My DD is very lucky. She's got the offer from Chinese Orchestra, which is her favorite. -
