        Power Puff:

Apologies if this question has been asked many times earlier but is it good enough that I am an old girl for my dd to be guaranteed a place in the school or do I have to join the Alumni, if there is any?
So far u are quite safe, as all applicants under 2A2 gets a place. But then u never know how things may change many years later, ur girl only 14 months old ah? So u got 4 more years before u register? U can see by then how is the situation, u can always join the Alumini if the need arises.

            a) most schools on average clock 40 hrs.

now rgps require 60 hrs PV work - perhaps bec many people applied, all so eager to come in! So school raised the bar. As time passes, getting more demanding.

            b) MGS improved greatly past few years. They catch up with us, hot on the heel.
Overall, our average / mean score won MGS by 0.3 decimal point.

based on 2011 - rgps strongest subject is Chinese, followed by English, Maths, Science.
MGS beat us in Science, English, Maths (by 1.2%).

Chinese turnout was a pleasant, amazing bonus surprise, most of us come from English speaking families.

overall, 2011 rgps churn out impressive results

            i) % Quality pass for Chinese scoring > 90 % surpass SAP schools / GEP centres:
(Ai Tong, Catholic High, Tao Nan, Henry Park) and Rulang, SCGS.

rgps kickstart Higher Chinese from P1. We believe that at ripe, juicy age P1, the young K2 kindergarten children coming in are in best position to tackle linguistic skills. Other non SAP schools likewise may follow our example, improve in Chinese. The other crucial factor is parental love and support at home.

ii) % Quality pass for English surpass:-
            Catholic High
            Tao Nan
            Nan Hua
            Henry Park
            Ai Tong
            Rulang

iii) % Quality pass for Maths surpass:-
            Tao Nan
            Nan Hua
            Henry Park
            Ai Tong
            Rulang
            SCGS

iv) % Quality pass for Science surpass:-
            Tao Nan
            Nan Hua
            Ai Tong
            Rulang

don't have data for Rosyth, Nanyang, St Nick.

                phtthp:
                sharing, summarize P4 briefing Q &A:-

                a) Science

                i) Science is a very heavy subject. Which common topics or areas in Science pupils normally encounter difficulty in, from past trend observed ?

                reply:-
Physical Science topics related to Heat, Light.
These topics maybe abstract. Somehow pupils don't quite grasp these concepts easily.

in Science tests, giving key words not sufficient. We want to find out does the child know how to apply the Scientific concept(s) behind ? Process Skills application and clarify Misconcepts are important.

                for Open ended Section:-
your answer should contain Scientific key words + show an understanding of how the Science concept is being applied. Not just memorise facts, but to be able to apply the right concept to the situation asked.

ii) can you recommend some Science guide / assessment books for parents to buy from Popular bookstore? we're swarmed when enter Popular.

                reply:
\"we do not give recommendation to parents. But some of them sold at Popular book store contain wrong answers, misleading. To be safe, Go for those that has chop on the book like \"Certified by MOE\".

                b) Maths

                i) which Maths topics pupils usually find difficulty in ?

                reply:-
                Modeling qns, Area, Perimeter, Geometry.

modeling - pupils find struggle bec most of them don't like to draw the diagram. They think they can visualize and get the answer. Half way through they got stuck, run out of time.

sometimes we may also pose questions not just test pupils on one topic alone - eg: just fractions. But can test on fractions + something else.
so child has to read the question carefully.

                c) Chinese

                i) can make our Chinese lessons as interesting as English lessons that injects drama into English, make the children feel is more fun, lively, entertaining to learn Chinese ?

                reply:-
compared to English, our Chinese lessons are fewer per week. Each hour is very precious. We need to deliver curriculum proper, at the same time make our lessons fun, lively, enjoyable for them.

pls keep all Chinese textbooks from P1 to P6. Do not throw away. come P6, you need all to revise.
                It's really useful.

KSP, just pm you detailed breakdown results.

                      MGS fought us head on!
mean score from MGS was 235.3 (mainstream + their own unique in-house GEP called \"Sophia Blackmore\" class)

mean score from RGPS was 235.6 (mainstream + GEP combined)

for Chinese quality pass (number of A*), both schools scored > 90%. Applaud!
for 4 subjects, both all girls schools beat other SAP schools + other GEP centres.

41.3 % scored 250 and above, from rgps.
Hi so for an average student from RGPS with score 235 which secondary school can she go to? I read that most popular schools cut off point is 250 & above. And what worries me is that RGPS has no affiliation.
