All About Piano Lesson Costs

It is always good to read newbie's posts carefully. moommazy's posts (made within seconds of each other) left me wondering if her dd is still doing piano grade 8. :? Maybe she has more than one dd? But her profile states she has 2 children only...breeze28:
So are you able to advise if they are parents who are here to give genuine advice or are they teachers themselves? :?:
There is no hard and fast rule. But I think the most common telltale sign is new nickname whose first few posts are about recommending his/her teacher. So I did a search on the threads created by this \"moonmazy\" and the first few posts of hers are about her recommending her children's teacher which were just made two days ago. So I can understand sacredmusicals' suspicion. Sometimes a teacher/music school may even create multiple nicks to compliment each other e.g. A is sharing about her teacher then B replies that she is very interested to study with this teacher. Kind of like how certain condo paid people to queue up for the launch to create false impression of demand.
Unfortunately the music industry has its fair share of unethical people. So at the end of the day, parents still have to evaluate the teacher carefully. I posted a rough guide on how to choose a teacher in this forum; that could be a start.
I tend to be more skeptical towards posters who share contradictory information.

My girl just completed her Grade 8 Piano, and she wants to start learning a new instrument.
She is still deciding between learning violin or saxophone.
Would like some suggestions on which is better, in terms of pricing and level of difficulty.
Anyone who knows a good saxophone teacher, please pm me.
Thanks!

Hi breeze,
the piano teacher for my children is quite good, she's a private teacher.
She's currently teaching my dd grade 8 and my boy grade 2.
(My dd got merit for grade 7, and my boy got distinction for grade 1)
She's very patient and gets along well with kids.
If you want i can give you her contact.
Her charges are quite reasonable as well. -
Wah chamonix, you're very perceptive. Can become private investigator!
I'm puzzled about the violin vs saxophone post. Why post there then when it's got nothing to do with \"piano teaching\"? Or perhaps this moonmazy is a tuition agent looking for sax teachers? -

:rotflmao:Hi all,
The piano teacher for my dd and ds are too good. Both of them just recently completed their grade 8 ABRSM and they score almost full mark for the exams. Their teacher is so patient and kind; I could almost make out a halo on top of his head when he is teaching my kids. My dd and ds improved so much under him. Now whenever they practice their pieces, I am so emotionally touched that I could not stop crying with joy. This piano teacher is so fantastic, and he charge very cheap also. He charges both my dd and ds $88 for both their grade 8 lessons. So cheap and value for money!!! Screw those overpriced music schools!!!
I am just sharing this because good teachers who charge reasonable rate are so hard to find nowadays. Anybody want his contact I can PM you. -

That is provided the same person use same device to log into multiple nicks. Those with single nicks are harder to 'CSI', so unfortunately it is not so straightforward to identify the black sheeps even for mods.

The mods here could do more too to check the background of these teacher so we do not have underqualified and inexperienced teachers like dreamaurora giving advice and passing off themselves as the ‘experts’

Define 'underqualified' and 'inexperienced'.
